tire "bulge"..... Help!

Questions

New member
Greetings fellow spyder owners...

Got a set of BRP black wheels for my ride as a Xmas gift. Just took them to the dealership to get mounted and balanced today. They just called me back to report that one of the tires has a bulge in the sidewall, and they feel it is too unsafe to remount and for me to ride.

I had about 3500 miles on the bike my first year, and the tread on the tires is still in great shape. I am kind of a clean freak, and speant a few minutes after every ride cleaning the bike, tires, wheels etc. I have never noticed any bulge or any visual indicator that the tire was defective. In fact, my bike has been on blocks since fall anticipating the new set of wheels, so the tires have not been sitting with weight on them durring the cold months.

The dealership is looking into if the tire is replacable under warranty.

My question:
Is this something any of you have seen?
Is this something that could happen if the tire machine opperator didnt know what he (or she) was doing?
Is this something that the dealership should be able to cover under warranty?

:chat:
Thanks for the input.

Seems strange. I've yet to see that on any tire but I wouldn't take te chance on using them. Tires are cheaper than your life.nojoke

Sounds like something that happened when they manufactured the tire as it was probably a new tire that has never been mounted. The belts inside probably shifted I wouldn't ride on them :yikes::spyder:

At one point in the distant past, Valkyrie riders experienced multiple Dunlop failures such as that... belt delamination. It does happen rarely.

.

I see the tire bulge all the time. Its a bad tire!can happen if you hit even a small pothole on the bad spot of the tire.Warr.should cover it.You CANNOT bulge a tire while mounting. You can tear a tire. And CANNOT bulge a tire by too much air.MOST tire mounting equp.will stop putting air in at 40 psi.Its like a big Zit it will get bigger.

its a broken belt internally - its a defect in the tire and the manufacturer should warranty it if it's fairley new. I had 2 tires on my Ram 1500 do the same thing - talk about coincidence of TWO fronts going at the same time!

too much air and or hitting a pothole or railroad tracks hard would also cuase it too. trust me.......been there done that:yikes:

it's not that rare it both my fronts went at the same time. And no, I didnt hit anything like a pothole or tracks. My tires were either bad or they couldnt handle the load to begin with.

tire bulge?!?! yes, I know what you are talking about!

ha, ha,

I had this happen with a 2005 Audi S4
Its the craziest sh*t you will ever see. I got a flat going down the road from spiking a nail. I had no idea, I just felt it getting a little slippery, so I pulled in the gas station and pumped some air. Rode away and it felt fine.

About 5 miles later, I feel a wobble and it starts getting worse. I pull over, jack the car to replace the tire and WHAMMO, could not believe my eyes.

The tire was replaced by the dealer for free, but no one could really explain what happened... Best guess was a total break down of the sidewall.

That nail must have broke the one key thread that was holding most of the sidewall belts together. :D

the belt in the tire is gone it should be covered it is knot safe get new tire asap...............

Any time a tire gets a bulge, it's not the time to question who, why, or what. CHANGE the tire. Then ask the questions. It's a blow-out waiting for a chance to happen. It's not worth the time or your life asking why. Ride Safe!
