• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

Only 80 posts since #399 which was the last time I posted in this thread, but that was in 2020? Nothing has changed, so here is my original post:

Pegasus1300: Pegasus the flying horse, motorcycles always seemed like a horse that could fly to me. 1300: Yamaha Venture V4 was a 1300cc motor and I rode those from 1986 till my accident in 2011 put me on 3 Wheels.

I went back and read some of the first posts from 2009. Most of those members are no longer on the forum, some are passed away, others just gone, maybe lost interest, sold their Spyder or ??? I joined SpyderLovers in 2012 when I first started looking at Spyders. Bought my Spyder in June 2015 used. It is kinda fun going back and seeing some of the names and posts from the early days and wondering what and how they are doing today.

Greetings all! My handle is one I created years ago and decided to use it here. It is arguably arrogant in nature; my lifelong careers were so diverse that I feel I can fix anything; DIY should be my middle name. My RIP dad (rocket scientist) put us on the moon, and taught me sooo much, he told me never to specialize in any field and there would always be a market for my skills. My first project was when I was about 6 years old when dad and I rebuilt a 2-cycle lawnmower engine. Mechanics, electrical/electronics, carpentry, physical sciences, atmospheric chemistry, computers, telecommunications, pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical weapons (demilitarization), just a short list. Now my favorite project is our motorhome, with, of course, the Spyder in tow! Yes, I still have the '72 Bonneville, and the Spyder pic was taken in exactly the same place... 40 years later! Whatever it is, don can fix that too (as long as it doesn't bleed)! Dad would be proud!
