What did you pay for your 9,000 mile service?

I am nearing the 9,000 mile checkup. The quoted price I received was for $800.00 and over 5 hours of labor. What was your experience/cost?
Thats Unreal!
No way could I afford to own my Spyder if I had to fork out that kind of cash for an oil change and a routine inspection at every scheduled maintenance interval!

$150 dollars average cost for doing it myself with top of the line products.

I really feel bad for those owners who can't do their own service jobs.

If they are changing the plugs and oil, then that price is very good if you're getting the whole thing for that price! I also don't know what to think about plugs at 9000 miles, seems like a scam, will they really change the plugs? They sure don't need to be changed!!! Good luck!!

My first service wasn't bad. Supposedly it's replacing the spark plugs that takes most of the time.
Direct from the 2025 owners manual:
Spark plugs Replace Every 5 years or 45 000 km(28,000 mi). No earlier inspection is listed. If a dealer is tearing the byke down to inspect spark plugs at 9k miles, they're ripping off customers :( As noted, spark plugs are lasting a long time.

What's included for that price? For that kinda dough you should be getting an alignment and belt tension check and all the other normal stuff. As others have stated, it's too early for a plug change.

If not, that price is crazy and you need to look for another shop for the work.

Just a follow up to my original post

My 3,000 mile service cost was $503.00
According to CanAm maintenance Schedule Spark plugs are to be replaced every 5 years or every 28,000 miles. Not at the 9,000 mile checkup

Thanks to all that responded

Without knowing exactly what is being done. It is impossible to evaluate if you're getting a reasonable deal with these services.

The downside to all of this is, do you really know what is being done? There is always a potential difference between claimed service and actual service. We see it much too often. Of course, we are going to see customers who are not happy with their dealer. If your dealer is making you happy, you're probably not going to travel 100 miles to get your ride serviced elsewhere.

You keep mentioning your service visits and the cost, but you never tell us exactly what service is being done for that price.

As Ron mentioned above, without knowing what's being done, informing us of the milage and the costs, is totally worthless.

My intent was trying to gauge what others were paying for maintenance. The question to my service center was what is the cost for the 9,000 mile checkup. The response I received was the price mentioned earlier. I was also informed that the time for labor was 5 hours with a majority of that time due to the replacement of the spark plugs. As mentioned in prior posts, spark plugs are not necessary for the initial 9,000 mile maintenance cycle. Thanks to the information provided by others on this page, I plan on following up with my service center. I will also reach out to others within a 2 hour radius. The initial 3,000 mile service only included the items recommended in CanAm maintenance schedule.

The responses provided were helpful and appreciated.

I totally get your reasoning for comparing costs but how are we to do that without knowing EXACTLY what was done during your visits to the dealership?

You say 3k and 9k milage checkups. Not all dealers will perform the exact same service. It would be nice if they were all consistent but I don't believe that they are.

What's wrong with listing what was done, if for no other reason than to just to humor us?

No worries. So based on what I provide below, what are your thoughts? I've only been in the CanAm world for 10 months, thus the reason for my initial question. I am used to two-wheeled motorcycles and well aware of break-in periods as well as the maintenance schedule and costs. I knew that the maintenance cost for the Spyder would be more due to the removal of panels to access the engine

For the 3,000 mile checkup the following is a description of services was provided:

"Perform 3000 mile service and adjustments per maintenance schedule. This service is in reference to all 2014+ UP SE6 RT Models"
The Spyder was idling rough at start up. This was checked and there were no issues. No charge for checking the idling issue.
Labor cost $312.00
Oil change kit $146.99
All other labor
BajaRon Sway Bar installation - Installation costs $360.00
DPS recall - $0.00
Suspension fault - $0.00
Estimate to replace front shocks only - $500.00

As far as the 9,000 mile checkup, in your initial response, you provided the following comment

"What's included for that price? For that kinda dough you should be getting an alignment and belt tension check and all the other normal stuff. As others have stated, it's too early for a plug change.

My goal is to clarify with the shop as to what service they are actually providing during the 9,000 mile checkup and post a reply. My initial question to the service department was on Friday. I have not had a chance to follow up since receiving your comment. Because the 9,000 mile checkup involved more than the 3,000 mile checkup, I had no idea what others were paying. As far as I knew, the price could have been average.

I am getting more comfortable performing work on the Spyder and plan on doing more as my experience level increases.

Could you provide a description of what services your dealer provided and the associated cost? This would be helpful for me to gauge what I can expect as an average price for basic maintenance going forward. Realizing that services performed will vary as well as the quality of the work performed.

I am prepping the Spyder for extended trips and plan on doing additional work over the next few weeks. I'm trying to get a feel of what to expect for labor costs (I have 3 dealers within 1.5 hour radius that can perform any necessary work.)

As always, thank you for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.
