• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What does this Détecteur Passager screen mean? What needs to be done?

That's gotta be something to do with the Passenger Detector in the seat &/or its wiring - you haven't unplugged that wiring under the seat have you, intentionally or otherwise?? Probably worth checking the wiring, plug, & any other connections tho!

Btw, do you normally have the digital dash display set to French? Or has that one chosen to come up in that language all by itself (or does that message only ever appear in French?)

There was no passenger on board.
The only thing I noticed was some water on the seat this morning. It's been raining the last couple of days and now I know that my Bike Barn leaks!
The language is set to English; this the only message I've seen in French, and I think it has something to do with the passenger detection as well.
I'm going to spray the connector and switch with WD-40 and see if it helps.

No joy

I took out the switch and flushed it out with alcohol, and then put a bit of Corrosion-X on the metal parts. I still have the warning screen and VSS off light.

OK, I found the error code. C1183 is the VCM module - Pillion Rider Switch shorted to ground.

Time to take it in to the dealer. Good thing I have a warranty.

Looks like you figured it out. Interesting how the switch, when it gets ticked off, reverts to French. :roflblack::roflblack:

I get that message on my 12, sometimes without a rider. Is it supposed to be on with a rider?
Do be aware that this thread is about 8 years old, and only a couple of us (who've replied earlier) are still around, buuut -

That message should ONLY appear when you have some issue/fault with the switch under the passenger seat (shown removed in post #5).

So if you're seeing it, then something is wrong - possibly the same thing as @Stumpy6Guns found. Do you know how to pull error codes on your 2012 Spyder?? 🤔
