There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What size trailer

What size trailer do you need to get/rent to tow an RT Spyder. I'm looking at either a U-Haul 5x9 or 6x12. Need to tow approx 1000 miles. Thank you.

I think the RT is 63 inches wide so you will not be using the 5 foot wide trailer. Measure the opening at the ramp end to be sure of the clearance. I would also suggest you verify the tie down locations.

Good luck!

If I remember correctly 62 x 109. I know we needed at least a 6 x 10 trailer to haul my bike. Hope this helps.

I have a 6 X 12 Dove Tail open trailer, it pulls great and you have plenty of room.

Trailer

I used a regular 16ft trailer. But I also used 6 ramps to load and unload my spyder. I used a pair of oil change ramps for the back tires of my truck to drop the rear of the trailer down, then I used two 8 ft ramps for the front tires and two more shorter ramps for the back tire. It was quite a pain in the butt to load and unload but it got the job done.

My experience with UHaul was; measure the width of the trailer tailgate. The smallest one I found that was wide enough at the tailgate was a double axle flat bed, and I had to use my own ramps to load the trailer.

uhaul trailers wont work for the spyder they dont have wide enough at the drive on part for some dumb reason uhauls have a ltd entrance width.look at there pics real closely then call them and ask whats the width at the ramp.

I have a chance to pick up a 6x10 covered trailer cheap. I would rather have a 7 x12 but for those with a 6x10 how to they work for a Spyder Rt.

I was looking at covered trailers earlier this year and found that the opening on a 6x10 was too narrow for the RT.

Uhaul

Boy, you guys are right about the uhaul trailers. The 6x12's gate opening is only 59 inches. So if the Spyder is 62-63 inches wide, it just wouldn't work. I already had one reserved and if I would have towed that up there and found out it didn't work I would have been in trouble. Thank you for that information. I am now looking at construction trailers to see if that would work. I will make sure there are sufficient tie downs.

Loading a spider

Yep, loading a spider can become a problem. To start you need three long, very long ramps because a spider only has about 4/5 inches of ground clearance. Lots of short 2X4's help. Tying one down can be a chore too. Use straps and not hooks, through the wheels and don't use so much pressure as to distort your wheel alignment. And don't tow your spider backwards, it's kind'a hard on the windshield.

I have a 7'x12'x7' single axel enclosed trailer - ramp door, with brakes. The extra height gives a perfect ramp angle for loading - the length is perfect for the RT & whatever else I want to bring along, and the door width gives me 6" of extra clearance for loading. I've hauled my RTs thousands of miles in it, so far.
