• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi Folks, still haven't bought my dream RT/F3 yet, but I'm interested in which model and year you would own over every other? I guess this is more a question for those that have owned or driven a decent number of different C.A. 3 wheelers over the years.
 
I took delivery of my first and, so far, only Spyder two months shy of 11 years ago. It has 92.3+K miles on the odo and I've had only one malfunction, a parking brake motor that was replaced under factory warranty. Would I trade it for a newer RT - absolutely not. There is no reason to get rid of a perfectly good machine.
 
IMHO, anything model year 2020 or newer. RT changed in 2020 and the new ones have better ergonomics. F3 hasn't changed that much other than displays. Personally I prefer the F3. The RT seating position is too high for my likes but the RT has more storage in the frunk. So it will depend on your personal usage requirements.
 
I started with a 2014 RT, then 2012 RSS was added to the stable. Then sold one and traded the other on a 2016 F3T. I picked up an identical 2016 F3T for the wife to ride. Then I sold my F3T and picked up a 2016 F3L Special Series. 2 years later, I came across a deal on a 2021 RTL and bought that one, while selling the wife's F3T and giving her the F3L. So I have been through 6 of them with a total of about 100k miles logged. For long rides, the 2021 RTL can't be beat. But if I had to own only 1, it would be the 2016 F3L Special Series. The quality on the newer RT series (in my opinion) is just not up to what the previous models had. I love the look and ride of the newer Spyders, but the quality would put it below the F3.

Thanks, that's what I'm interested in, that in seat time on different models. Maybe I'll just hold off a while and see what pops up, before making my choice on which Spyder. F3's seem to be the popular vote on the, "if I had to own only one" questions, and I'm gravitating more towards them because of that.

Both... I give any manufacturer a couple years to iron out the bugs of a new model. I'm a BMW owner as well! I just don't like the body style/ergo's of the 20+ models. Don't like the exposed engine and ergo's of the F3 models either.
 
I have a '17 RTS, 90k klm on it. Not expecting any issues for a long time yet, but not sure what I will do if it does crap out. I really don't like the looks of the '20 anything (the RT and F3 look the same to me), and I don't want the electronics of the '18.
But I don't worry about it, just feeling the breeze...

I totally hated the looks of the F3 series when they came out. Then I made the mistake of test riding a 2016 F3T while my 2014 RT was being serviced. Although I still didn't like the looks, I could not stop smiling because of the performance and handling. I still am not a fan of the looks, but it sure does ride great.

It all started for me back in 2013 when I bought my first Spyder, an 2012 RTS. I then moved up to a 2015 RTS with the new 1330 engine. On both of the RTS's, I felt cramped, as I'm fairly tall at 6' 1" and I have long legs. So after those 2 RTS's, I finally found my perfect Spyder, a 2017 F3 Limited. On both RT's, I felt like I was sitting ON the bike; but with the F3-L, I felt more in touch with the bike, as you sit more IN the bike. Plus, I moved the floor boards to position 5, giving my long legs more room to stretch. I think the 2017 F3-L will probably be my last Spyder, as I'm getting up in age at 75, and not sure how many more years I have left to ride a bike.
 
When I was looking at buying a Spyder, my wife and I took out an F3 and an RTL. We both liked the extra seat space and comfort of the RTL, so I focused my looking at 2020 and newer RTL's. I did have 2 minor issues with the newer RTL; being 5’8” with a 30” inseam, the brake pedal was slightly too far away and the handle bars were a touch too far away for long distance comfort. Both issues can be corrected, so I kept looking for a nice used 2020 or newer RTL. A salesman at my local dealership had my number and was keeping me up to date on the latest trade ins before they would put them on line. He had a nice 2021 come in and we made arrangements for me to go there after work to look at it and take it for a ride. When I got there, a couple were trading in their 2019 RTL for a new 2024 RTL. While I was waiting, I started looking at their 2019. I liked the blue with the blacked out trim…
After the salesman was finished with them, he commented on me checking out the 2019 and asked if I wanted to take it for a ride as well, to which I said sure. I discovered that the 2019 fit me very well with no modifications needed, so I bought the 2019 and the money I didn’t spend on the 2021 to make it fit me better I spent on other goodies...
I love my 2019!

That color pops, I like the body style on that 2019!
 
I started with a new 2012 RTS-SE5, and had that for 1 & 1/2 years, then traded up to a 2014 RTS-SE6 (with the 1330 Ace engine etc). I had the 2014 RTS-SE6 for 10 years and did 30,000 miles, then traded/sold it to upgrade to my current Spyder, which is a 2023 F3 LTD Special Series.

I would own another F3 LTD SS because I like the comfort, and the F3 LTD SS is road ready, hugs the corners better, has a nice color, and it sits lower than the RTS Spyder models.
