• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Which one - Calamoto or Rever - Pros/Cons?

Scenic is another one.

I have all three downloaded but I have an iPhone. A friend who works ride with has a Samsung phone and one of the apps wasnt available for him

I ended up with the Rever with the pro plan. It had better features for me than Scenic. I haven’t looked at Calimoto.

All the phone apps for GPS are a 'work in progress'!!!!
Calimoto is probably the best so far but very flakey and will destroy your planned route if you miss a turn. It will recalculate using it's own logic and ignore your waypoints from that point.
Rever & Scenic are getting better but not ready for primetime.

If you need to be certain to faithfully follow your intended route, stick with a dedicated GPS like the Garmin zumo line.

I use Rever with the Pro plan. I like the Butler maps included highlighting the rated scenic roads. I'll build a route in Rever and then download the gpx file into my Zumo GPS. You don't necessarily have to follow the route but it shows it on the gps and you can improvise as you want.

Most use Rever for tracking and can be used for navigation (if you download the map for your ride) Calimoto is kinda pricy and I don’t know anyone that uses it.

Rever came out with a GoPro feature where it can turn on and start recording for you. It’s great when you get a nice road and forget to turn the camera on. They app does it.

I agree, Ray, but not ALL GPS phone apps are a work in progress. There are a couple of GPS phone apps that are fully developed, like Sygic and TomTom, and save you buying a dedicated GPS……but yes, they cost.
