• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Went for a little ride this morning. Just about 60 miles, nothing fantastic, just a nice ride through some of NE Kansas and NW Missouri. Pulled over and called my wife a little after 8, because I function as her alarm clock. She asked why I decided to go for a ride this morning, I told her, "because it's under 100 degrees!". Why not?

Still under 100 after lunch, so went out again. This time headed west. Surprise, county decided to oil some roads yesterday! Now Burp is home in the shade and probably stay there till sundown

85-90 for me also, that ship was lucky got to be in the movie "hunt for red oct". but as i remeber the r.j. was a reserve ship wasnt it? the heat you got is just about the same here if not warmer.

A few years back, took a tour of the USS Kaufman FFG 59. Got to go into CnC. Interesting. Took a ride today also, 105 on the Spyder thermometer. Had to go on base :cus:. Gotta were long sleeves, gloves, boots and long pants and a reflective vest. You'd think they would relax the regs a little in this heat. NOT!!. Took off the extrenious gear as soon as we were off base. Took a short run down to the Cliffs (Cliffs of the Neuse state park). By the time we got home the thermometer at the house was reading 101. Were in for the rest of the day.

i ride 6am to 11am and done for the day toooo hot after that and no rain in 15 days and i thought i would never hope for rain.:yikes::thumbup::chat:

I was on DDG 56 01-04 USS John S McCain (named for the senators father and grandfather). also, while i was stationed there, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, the Vandy was there with us.

same here...

Same was true in west Atlanta...we're only hitting about 96 today...time to ride!! smoky

Tl44-600lb steam plant?

Scooterexpress- Yes, we did 3 weeks of ops off the coast of Washington for that movie. 2/3 of the crew got crewcuts so they could play Russians, lots of shots from the helos and the only part of what we did was when the 'Dallas' came out of the water. RJ wasn't Nerf Navy, we made our Persian Gulf tour with the John A Moore, a NRF FFG. Rubber Jimmy is still active out of Pearl.

Bruiser- know what you're talking about, I went up to Fort Leavenworth for gas and had to suit up.

Napper-Usually at work during those hours, so gotta ride around them.

joet82-My first ship was John S McCain DDG-36, back in the 70s

Smoky - I don't know if I'd get on any road around Atlanta without armor.

Probly be at work most of the day, drive careful.

Good Reuben James, etc

Love the recycled names. Glad the destroyer force decided to do it. The McCain I knew was DL3, later DDG 36. She was Flot 5 flagship in Pearl. Known to some as building 3.
