Your preference of floor jacks and stands for your F3

Decided to tackle doing my F3 rear tire removal (also fronts) myself but I will be in need of a new floor jack as the very old one I had bit the dust.

What is your preference for a floor jack and stands for your F3?

This is a wonderful floor jack for the price. I used this when doing a recent rear tire swap. Be sure to chock the front wheels well.

A platform, scissors jack is used on the front of the frame when lifting both front wheels off the floor. And a lot more uses.

I was getting ready to order the floor jack from harbor freight when I saw this and wondering if it would work for the front wheels instead of the platform lift. I am limited on space to store stuff and didn't want 2 jacks. Or if it would just be better and more stable to have 2 jack stands to leave the spyder up on while I get the tires mounted. : https://www.harborfreight.com/steel-floor-jack-cross-beam-64051.html

I don't know about how your floor jacks will work for lifting just one front wheel. From the front, I slip my narrow one in between the front wheel to be lifted and the body. Those two lifts will prevent that and will have very limited use. Pass!

I have one like that .... However there are other manufactures that have similar for less .... JMHO ....Mike :thumbup:

I picked it up last night at Harbor freight and it is a nice and solid unit. I saw a video review of the cheaper one (atv/moto lift) and it seemed pretty loose. I wont be using the extensions as it is too high for the spyder but I will be able to use them on a few other things I have around here.

I also picked up a couple of the Pittsburgh Automotive Click Torque Wrench's (1/2 and 3/8's) to make sure I have things correctly torqued on re-assembly. That and the chocks RICZ recommended, I was expecting them to be more light weight similar to the ones I have for my truck but these are nice and solid.

I just need to pick up one more thing this morning before I can get started and that is the 36 MM socket. Hopefully Napa or advance auto will have one. The only thing HF had was a front wheel drive kit that had one in it But I couldn't see myself paying $60 for a kit just to get one size of socket that I need.

I assume the safest place to pick up the Spyder with this is the frame right in front of the exhaust? That is where it seems to be located in the Greatrydes video. As usual I will take some pics during the progress to share.

That’s the jack I have. Wow I haven’t looked at harbor freight for a while. When I clicked on your link, I was shocked when I saw the price. That jack was $179 for many many years and I used a 20 percent off coupon that they no longer give out. That jack has really jumped in price.

It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but to have a nice solid unit I dont mind and hopefully my son will like it too as I did my fathers until it finally blew apart from old age. It was probably close to 60 years old.

Unless they made changes to this jack, I find it wanting in no way. It's very solid, even at max height. When I first used it, I thought; why spend more for the same performance?
