• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I'm in the market for a Zumo 665 and I'm looking for a deal. You guys know of a good place to start looking?

I've seen some deals on refurbs and that may be the way I go but I thought you guys might have some inside tracks :doorag:

Keep an eye on the web

Teddy got his last year, online (Amazon I think) for around $680. It was a refurb unit & after 6 months, had to be returned. Garmin customer service could not have been better tho. The new unit has since been flawless & it's invaluable on road trips, especially if you get the XM-Weather & XM-Traffic not to mention having all your tunes together in one package & all with Bluetooth  We love ours

The thing I really want is the weather. I use my iphone now and it works great but it's not covered and is a little more work then to have it right on the gps. i found one for a Harley for $620.00 shipped but I'm not sure what the difference would be.

I have one of the life proof covers also. Lamont posted a link to them here a whole back and I liked what I saw so I ordered one. I use my iPhone for weather, tunes, camera and GPS. Don't know where I'd be without it. I wasn't sure about the life proof cover at first, but now I LOVE it. The screen wasn't quite as sensitive, but I got over that quickly. It is more waterproof than my old otterbox, and it is designed with the silicone inside for cushion and hard plastic outside so in and out of the pocket is a breeze. I do sometimes wonder though if the GPS using the Zumo would be more reliable. The iPhone is good 90% of the time but does lose connectivity fairly often. Maybe the new ios5 will help.

I have an interest in the Zumo, but the price,,, yikes!

... but what did you go to the iPhone4s from??

I have the 4. But the GPS isn't too reliable. I think the Zumo would be better.

Question on the Zumo. I am certain the GPS is better but how about the tunes? Does it connect using the 3.5mm jack? Also how many GB is available for music?

Zumo 665

I think I got mine from either j&r online or amazon for around $760 back in April when I was getting my rt. Much. Less than brp's price. Have been having some troubles since the warm weather with it starting to talk like the chipmunks. Have to contact gamin. Also have some difficulty with xm not allowing me to extend my subscription to the zumo. Hope this helps. Ed

Zumo 665 Harley Edition

I have the 665 Harley Edition which has the XM and weather. Weather add was about $10/mo so it seemed like a deal compared to the $45 marine weather I had on my Garmin 478 marine/auto unit. When I put the 665 on the boat (just for the weather, since it does not have marine charts) I found the weather stops at the shore line:yikes: whereas the marine weather goes everywhere.

The plus side is that the XM feature is effectively free when you figure what cost of XM is thru CanAm. Since it is portable, you can move it to the cage or the boat when needed there. :joke:

Check Craigslist. There us a website (Searchtempest) that allows you to do multiple city CL searches at once.

I bought mine 2 months ago for $300. The unit was less than a year old.
