• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've done well over 150k on various bikes, but all were two wheeled. I have been on a rancher style quad (two wheels in front is my point) quite a bit.

I've not ridden a spyder. I am heading out tomorrow eve to pick it up,and thought I might ask for any tips yall might have. I can see leaning towards the smaller (inside) of a turn as needed, but what else do you suggest?

I usually ride away from traffic, frequently in the quiet twisties of oregon, not in traffic.

The manual has an excellent section on riding tips for operators. There should also be a video version included with the manual.

Quick Start Up:

No leaning required. No countersteering. Do not overcontrol. Pretend there are eggs between your hands and the handgrips. Don't break the eggs. If you need to brake when making a turn, your going to fast. You should be able to accelerate during the turn.

To avoid excessive g's, plant your outside foot on the peg or floorboard. Grip the tank with your knees and lean slightly into the turn.

This will get you home safely.

Your Spyder will feel pretty similar to the ATV that you spent some time on... :thumbup:

Ride it like a snowmobile, knee toward the inside front tire, one butt cheek off the seat makes it all work nicely. Don't chop the throttle open, when boogying, it will pick up an inside wheel.

Above all RIDE SAFE, with practice you will be doing twisties like nothing. WAIT TILL YOU LIFT A FRONT WHEEL OFF THE GROUND, kinda scary but needed to know. Awesome ride and all the safety features are there. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY.
 
I'm not sure about others, but my Spyder RSS starts to lose traction before lifting a wheel when riding solo. However, I shift my weight inward, otherwise hard cornering feels like trying to hold on to a merry go round going to fast.
 
the biggest thing is to take your time and relax, when starting out dont be in a hurry to get anywhere and put a lot of miles on, i have about 5k on mine since starting and still feel like i am learning, but i do love it and gets better every time
 
Relax and look where you are going and not where you are at. Always look ahead and not down!:yes::yes:
 
I'm a long time motorcycle rider, (53 years) and the biggest problem I've had, if you want to call it a problem, was with how quick the Spyder turns. Once I got used to it, and learned to be gentle with the handlebars, it's really a joy to ride. Good luck with yours, and just take your time, you should do well.
