• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2019 RT Ltd - won't shift into 1st - Anyone have any ideas of what happened/how to fix it?

I was unloading my Spyder off of my Stinger Trailer this morning and I heard a bump as it came off. When I stopped and tried to shift into 1st, it just shifted into Neutral. Despite repeated attempts to shift into 1s it just stays in Neutral. I turned it off and let it sit a while, but it still just goes to Neutral.

I reversed it up into my driveway and looked underneath to see a bracket with some electronics bent down. Does anyone have an idea of what might have happened and whether I could/should just push it back into place to fix it? I sure don't want to make it any worse.

I do hear a slight click from under the bike when I try to shift into 1st, the Neutral light goes out, then comes back on.

The #faultcodes display shows all clear.

This is from the left side of the bike, looking under the driver's footrest.

Looking up into the area where the bracket "should be". The belt is also up in there and feels tight and fine.

That bracket is for shifting into reverse. It is on an angle and gets caught while unloading from a trailer if not careful. Not sure what could have came loose

If you've bent the bracket to the point that the reverse interlock lever has been pulled into the deployed position, (pulled to the rear) it will prevent shifting into first, also. See pic. It's a mechanical interlock inside the gearbox. So, jack it up safely, crawl under there and see what's what. If you disconnect the little cable from the lever, you should be able to get it into the forward gears, but not reverse. Of course, you did have your foot on the brake, right?

Yes. Foot on the brake for shifting from Reverse or Neutral into 1st

Well then, looks like your smoking gun is the bent bracket for the reverse interlock. On that bracket is a little solenoid that is connected to the interlock lever by a small cable. Normally, when you push the R button, the solenoid energizes and pulls the lever to the rear. It must be bent to the point that it has pulled the lever to the rear, and stuck in the deployed position. The info in the pic I posted explains. You just need to do the necessary repairs.

I found that with my trailer I had to screw a 2x8 down on the ramp to hit the rear tire and raise the bike up enough to make that low hanging assembly pass by the pivot point of the ramp! Why they had to hang it down so is beyond me, but it is an issue we have we have to remember with these new style bikes. Good Luck!
