Anyone know of a source for a 2010 RT brake cable? Or any alternatives that will fit?

2010 RT, the park brake cable snapped and I am unable to find a replacement. Had no luck at the dealer, or on ebay, amazon, or revzilla...
Should I just use blocks of wood and put up with the beeping?
Are there any different years that will fit? 707000758 is the part number.

In this thread below, @jcthorne posted that the 2010 - 2012 cables are all the same, even though the part numbers are different. Post #13. I’ve never personally held them both side by side, but he’s pretty knowledgeable. Part number 707000927 seems to be available in multiple places.

2010 RTS SE5

My wife's RT has almost 40k miles on it. I think the parking brake cable is stretched and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where to get one? Can't get it from Can-Am, it is discontinued. Local dealer can't get it either. Parts guy at dealer doesn't think the cable for a 2011 will work. I can find 2011 cables, but not 2010.
Is it possible to put new cable in the shield and attach cable ends?
Thoughts?

Well, been doing some poking around and you can get a 2011 and a 2012 cable still! If you want, I have a used one for a 2012 RTL sitting on my bench. I am willing to bet it will fit, because BRP likes to change the numbers but doesn't like to redesign anything and will keep all the buttons and knobs the same through out! If you want my old cable, get back to me via DM and I can mail it out for you! Or if you give me the length of your cable in this thread, I can measure mine against yours.

I've installed the later model cable, which fit just fine, only to discover that the recoil spring is also broken! Easy fix, seems like an over complicated system to me. But it's a Can Am so it comes with the territory...

I am sorry I didn't suggest you getting a new one when you got the cable, they get banged up and stretched out depending on how you release them! On the good side, I think you can still get them, if not, drop me a line!

Sounds like you’re missing running into something.

You say there's no brake action?? Do you mean it's not locking up? Do you have a manual, there's a few steps to adjusting your caliper! And you say you're iron to iron, how much pad do you have left? Those pads don't come with much material to start with, I am betting you have to adjust the caliper!

Wouldn’t it be better if you replaced the brake pads first?

If the wheel is going to the stop, then it's what I thought, but remember, like Doug said, when you put new pads in you have to readjust the system! He, unlike myself, has found the right combo to put links to great information on this site!! Good luck, it's not that hard once you have done it once!

For those reading this thread who don't have a friend who can send them a cable, a custom bike shop can usually build you a cable. They have bulk cable, outer cable, and ends.
