There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Auto Volume Control

On the radios, do you set the AVC to high or low. I have mine on high, but not sure which is the best setting. The radio volume works much better now that I figured out to set it to "full front" vs "full rear" as it was set when I picked it up. (I ride solo)

George- I set mine low. MY reason is that I'm the guy that has all of the bike audio coming via BlueTooth to my helmet. In my situation, I want the audio level the same at all times since the speakers are right next to my ears.

As to what is the BEST setting, that's really up to you. If you're listening to the speakers as you ride, naturally the wind noise and general road noise will go up as you go faster. The AVC helps to keep you from having to tweak the volume all the time :sour:

Wow, Phil, I hadn't even thought of that. When I get this new PAC SNI-35 hi-low converter connected, I'll have to do that. My Starcom already has an automatic volume control, based on the background noise, I think. You're a handy guy to have around!

Okay, I use headsets in my FF helmet, no speakers. Does "high" give more volume as speed increases....it does in my pickup....just wondering. No bluetooth, etc, just the OEM radio.

BlueTooth?

Phil can the stock Radio on the 2011 RTS be modifed with BlurTooth?, my wife and I both have BT helmets and would love to play our iPods thought the audio system to our helmets. We can play from our iPhones on BT(A2DP) but it uses to much battery for long trips,we also trying to figre how to power our BT Helmets for long trips, any ideas?

Yes, auto-volume on "High" increases the volume with speed more than it does on lower settings.

I play my ipod/iphone through my bluetooth headset with the track control on the RT. Works great.

I have the bike speakers turned off and I am only using helmet speakers, how does the mix front to back affect the passenger volume in her helmet: example if the mix is set at 50/50 we both should here the music equally but if I make it 100% front will she still be able to hear the music and intercom or can she control volume on the rear controls.

Thanks, Scotty. That is what I thought, but was not sure. BRP needs to buy a Gold Wing and copy the electronics...the Wing has a much better system.

She can control volume on the rear controls.

And GOD help us, she can also change the radio station. DAMHIKT

Sorry but I can't answer that one. I don't have experience with the hard wired connection from the helmets to the bike.

Tobor9--- Let me answer in pieces---
1. Phil can the stock Radio on the 2011 RTS be modified with Bluetooth?
Yes. I have a 2010 and from what I read, the 2011 audio is the same as the 2010. To see the way I did it (not necessarily the only way), check this out...

Lamonster's comment is spot on. With many BT helmets, you can pair them with multiple devices. That means that as Lamonster says, you plug the iPod/iPhone into the bike audio for control, and the BT from the iThing directly to the helmet.
Now... powering them... I LOVE this little puppy from Belkin-
Belkin-USB-Charger.jpg

The most SIMPLE thing to do is to plug this into the 12vdc accessory outlet in the trunk (RT) , plug the iThing power cable into the Belkin, and whaaaalaaaa. I took the approach to bring the power out to the handlebar with a Gizmo mount, like this- http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=284444&postcount=35 I love having the iPhone where I can see it (at stop lights of course) and listen not only to music, but also the TomTom app, all while being powered!

Hope that helps!

On a postivie note... Changing the AVC settings does make a difference. Mine was set to "low", and I found that I was fiddling with the volume control a bit too often. Setting it to "high" made a very noticeable difference in how much the vehicle speed and volume of the stereo are tied together... Now I'm actually ryding rather than just being a volume-contol button-pusher!

Thanks, Bob. I have mine on high. The thing that bugged me is the "front/rear" settings. Mine were on "full rear" and my volume was low. Nothing in the book addresses this that I could find...anyway, I changed it to "full front" and have great volume.

In another two or three years, I may have BR1 set up the way I like it.

Thanks Phil, i use my iphone 3gs for everything, phone, audiobooks, & GPS so i got the gizmo mount already and will run power from trunk for iphone what i can't figure a way to power the BT helmets as if you plug in charger it disables the helmets BT while charging, also don't have 12vdc charger. your braver then i doing the wiring you did,i'm a retired phone tech but don't know to much about cycle wiring.

A bluetooth charger is not a problem, The point here is having Bluetooth eliminates the need for wires hanging from your helmet and having to unplug every time you have to stop to refuel or whatever...:ohyea:...
