Was ryding home after my breakfast run yesterday morning and was just cruising at about 50 in 4th when the engine sputtered and the display scrolled with "DPS failure" and went into limp home mode.
I got home, powered down and delivered breakfast. I called the dealer who advised me it was the power steering unit which was generating the message. Anyway, after being told it was safe to drive to the shop, I took it in.
Long story short....a dodgy connection from the steering angle sensor. Techie said the whole unit had not been setup properly so he did it properly.
Well, I got back on the highway and Spyder was right twitchy because now the steering is much lighter than before (or is it just me...?).
But another thing I noticed last night........I was cruising through some nice sweepers in fourth with a few minor elevation changes and I noticed that when the engine got to the point of little or no load it felt as though it was hesitating....almost as if it was kissing a rev limiter. No popping or anything but definitely feelable. I fed it some beans and everything went smooth and no loss of power.
Any comments here....?
