Same Here! I thought it was Overheating (Hot Day) But found the 10Amp rear fuse had blown and All Hell breaks Lose?

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Happened to me once , was a glitch, never happened since. However I can't see were danger comes in here:dontknow:
I know that all dash lights go crazy, all codes scrolling across but all what happens really is that spyder slows down into limp mode, nothing else, now how is that dangerous? Only thing I can think of being dangerous is Ryder not knowing what is happening and being scared to crap, not knowing what to do, what to expect - that my be a potential danger allright.

I would hate to be caught in busy traffic with cages all around doing 70-80 mph when limp mode suddenly shut me down to 35 mph.
Yes, I do think that is a bit dangerous! :yikes::yikes::yikes: Being rear-ended at that speed...... No thanks!
I am VERY thankful it has never happened to me. I think limp mode is one of the things I disagree most with regard to all Spyders in general. Just give me a warning light any day of the week and let me decide when to shut it down. nojoke

The idea of limp mode is to prevent catastrophic damage to the engine or trans, or to save your bacon if a serious saftey hazard arises. I don't think that it will generally do either...especially the way the Spyder does it. If it does revert to limp mode, a vehicle should do it slowly enough, and after a benign warning period, that the driver can react and get to a safe place first. Starting out in limp mode is much different that finding your vehicle inexplicably slowing while you are barreling down the expressway in heavy traffic. Things like burned out brakelights should never trigger that kind of thing, only display a warning. Other things, like a burned out taillight fuse, should trigger a warning but do not. If there is one thing I'd like to see refined and adjusted on the Spyder, it is this one. I suppose we should be glad the Spyder doesn't come with OnStar. It would probably call a wrecker, too. JMHO

I'm guessing I-90 east or west being the road travelled and the possibilities just make my stomach queasy....sure glad you are here to write about this Randy! :thumbup:

I would be happy if the Spyder sputtered for a couple of seconds to alert me to the dash, then give me at least 15 seconds of full power get safely pulled over before engaging full limp mode. That would be the perfect world senerio for me.

:agree: with the above concerning limp mode. I had it happen to me on the freeway and it scarred the heck out of me. I was in the slow lane, but the traffic behind me sure came up fast once limp mode kicked in.
I also think limp mode is overkill in some situations.
PS. it was my fault--I was riding the brake pedal unawares.

They need to seriously rewrite the fault routines for the software!!
It would seem to me that some codes could set the emergency flashers, delay for some time and ramp slowly into fault mode. This would allow the driver and other traffic to respond. But what do I know??

That sounds like a reasonable approach....lack of any driver warning seems like a huge oversight to me!
