There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Trying to save some money here.
Are there any items that do not necessarily need to be done.
Is changing the clutch fluid amd brake fluid really necessary at 12k?
Can any mechanics chime in on this?

Mechanics or not, you should note that if you fail to perform specified maintenance items, and there is a failure of any related system, your warranty is unlikely to cover it. This is one place I would not skimp just to save money, even if I though BRP's maintenance intervals were too conservative. If you have to pay for a repair that would have been warrantied, you will lose lots of dough in the long run. Just my two cents.

Still have not done my valves and do not believe it is necessary at this point. I believe Lamonster has over 25k and is just about to do so. I know the fluids need to be changed, but does it have to be done at 12k, can it be done at 18k.?

I would say yes it could be done at 18K or even much farther, but if you had a clutch cylinder seal failure at 15,000 miles, and you did not change the fluid, you would be stuck. For machines out of warranty, I do things at the intervals that experience and common sense dictate, but for machines still on warranty, what the manufacturer says must prevail. My personal opinion is that BRP is overly cautious, but then again so are BMW and some others. I don't wish the possibilty of voiding my warranty by neglecting a specified fluid change, whether I personally feel it is necessary or not. These things cost too much too be considered throw-aways.

I think one difference is that lamonster is prepared to do any necessary repairs and maintenance on his Spyder. For those of us who aren't into tearing down an engine to check or fix things, its probably best to follow BRP's maintenance schedule to keep the warranty valid. Maybe you can consult with your dealer to see how much help they will be in saving you money on the scheduled service.

I also did what my finacial advisors and government told me to do all this time. Now I am in the poor house. Now it is every man for themselves. In a few months the warranty is not worth anything. Points taken though, just going to extend it out some. Thanks for the advice. Ride safe !

Ya and were getting bailed out alright :spyder2:

I am due up for my 12k (and 15k) service.... I skipped over the 12K and just did an oil change at that time. Now I am quite mechanically inclined so I was wanting to know how difficult stuff like the fluid change, spark plugs, and air filter replacement is? Saving a little money here and there can go a long way.

I was considering only having the dealer do the valve check/adjustment (cuz I really don't feel like taking the motor apart) and check/replace the rear wheel bearing (and possibly the rear tire).

I could do the spark plugs, air filter, oil change, fluid change, and even a radiator compression/leak test myself at my automotive school and save some $$.

Any thoughts on this???

speaking of warranty issues:
the 12k service calls for, brake and coolant fulids to be changed. How would this effect the electronics and engine warranty?

Maintenance of Spyder.

I have decided that I am going to treat my Spyder just like any other motorcycle I have owned in over 60 years of riding. Change the oil and filter every 3000 mi., keep things in adjustment, ie the belt drive, top off fluids as needed and then just drive it. If the damn thing blows its guts with this level of care, then so be it. It will be a lesson learned and I will move on to something else. I flat refuse to be held hostage by a dealer charging a small fortune for service. Will keep all posted as time goes on.
