• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone else despise the Kill Switch/Cruise Control location?

Anyone despise the location or maybe it's the orientation of the kill switch in relation to the cruise control switch? Twice now I've inadvertently hit the kill switch while setting the cruise while travelling at a good clip. Yesterday was at 115 km/h while passing a car, kinda gives you a pucker moment, least ways it starts right up once you realize what you did and turn it back on.

I just looked at a picture of your controls, the cruise is above the starter button while the Kill is above the cruise. You have to hit the top of the kill switch to kill the engine. You must be wearing very thick gloves if you are hitting the top of the kill switch when going for the cruise control.

I did the same thing with my Canyon (once). In my defense, I was experimenting with cruise on a new model when I had never had cruise on a motorcycle before. I think repositioning my hand to get my thumb on the button is what hit the kill switch.

The only "problem" I have with the CC is that I think it's on the wrong side. Every motorcycle I've ridden with CC, it's on the left side. I love the one on my BMW.

Yeah, been there. When I first got mine, I stood up to stretch at a busy intersection red light and accidentally hit it when I sat down and had no idea why my bike stopped running. Panicked and ended up sitting there through a complete cycle of the stoplight and a lot of unhappy drivers behind me.

The kill switch has been a PITA on all my 2-wheelers, trikes, and now Spyder.
It gets me just long enough in-between "gets" so that I forget to check the kill switch FIRST as to why the bike just suddenly quit, or absolutely won't make a sound to start, although all the electronics function.
Panic, frustration, then overwhelming "dummy" feeling when I finally realize it was the kill switch.
It even cost me a new battery one time.
I just don't think it is even necessary.
I have threatened to tape it in the "Run" position... but haven't yet - thinking I will remember to check for its position after it is dead... nope... haven't remembered to check for that FIRST - yet. Happens about every 7-8 years...😒

I was going to say the same, tape it in the run position. The only time mine has been off was the first real ride with DW on the first 2018 back in 2020. We stopped a McDonalds in Fountain Hills, DW hit it getting on after lunch, and it would not start. PANTIC set in, 44 miles from hone and a dead new to us Spyder. After a couple minutes of WTF, I switched it to run and off we went!!!!!

I use it to turn off my Spyder when we stop for anything. Cheri does not use hers. It's a matter of personal preference. When I was an MSF Instructor we taught the students use the switch so they would keep both hands on the handlebars until the motor had stopped. After 50 years of riding and using it I'm comfortable with it.

Just my .02 worth, to each their own.

Guess more folks need to take the MSF course!!

F I N E - C and Thumb/Key/Valve
I guess so. I have taken it 3 times.
The first - years and years ago.
The second - years after the first when a friend was teaching it and wanted more riders to sign up.
The third - a couple of years after the second - when my husband said he would sign up for the class but only if I would take it with him...
I guess the training "took" as I have never had a ticket or an accident on any of my 2-wheelers or 3-wheelers... just get caught on that darned kill switch - every time!
:)
