• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SPYD3R GANG... at this point, i'm certain that collectively, we had surpassed 1,000,000 miles on our SPYD3R's.... :ohyea:

my question is: HAS ANYONE HEAR OF EVEN ONE SPYD3R RIDER 'DUMPING' HIS/HER RIDE.....????????

if there are any 'OFFICIAL' status ratings on the accident rate of our SPYD3R's i'd like to know... if anyone has this info, and can provide it, i will be taking it to my insurance company.

WHY? well at this time, we pay the same rates as 2 WHEELERS... and i'm thinking that IF we have far less issues than they do... hence, our insurance should be less....

any/all help is appreciated....

(T-Boned a Subaru at an intersection... my fault completely! :opps:)
Almost $13,000 in damages to the bike, and over $6,500 to the car...
A moment of inattentiveness on my part...

:congrats: on willing to tackle a "big one." Someone, somewhere is compiling good stats--but I cannot give you an exact source. We have not heard about many accidents on :spyder2: that I can recall. There was one dump for sure. I believe it went up and over a curb. Another incident in Ohio where a couple was killed and the :ani29: ended upside down in a ditch.

Desert Spyder knows a couple that flipped there Spyder. I believe the right shock broke in a left turn.

DREAM ON

I would be shocked if the insurance companies ever go along with that.
Why should they ? they know they have you right where they want you
so you will pay what they charge like it or not...
In California, the law as I understand it is that you have to show financial
responsibility... meaning you can become bonded for a fixed amount such
as a million dollars or ???? to satisfy the state.
Check it out in your state.

I actually know of two. One was a friend of mine who with his wife were making a New Years trek to Boron from Barstow. He actually lives in Helendale, about 15 miles west of Barstow. On that date about 2 miles from where we started he made a LH turn at about 15 mph. The right front suddenly dropped and apparently the steering was stuck. The bike flipped on its side unloading its occupants then righted itself back up. They weren't seriously hurt but their recovery took several months. I examined the bike in the towing yard and noticed the top shock bolt was missing. Either it snapped or the nut came off and the bolt wiggled out. The owner told me he had previously taken the bike to a dealer for front vibration issues. Not sure what was done at the dealer. My friend continued riding...on a HD trike.

In another incident I came upon a cage towing a RS on a trailer a little banged up. Turns out the owner nephew was driving recklessly. He was a "big kid" standing on the pegs spinning "brodies". I don't think there is anything on the Nanny Guide to counteract this. The handle bars and mirrors needed to be replace along with some tupperware and probably the front end checked.

That said it is extremely hard to flip these machines. Something stupid must be done by man at least 99% of the time.

A friend just wrecked his 2013 RT yesterday. Stock heim link broke while he was hard into a curve. He was fine, Spyder and other vehicle not so fine.

I realize these spyders are easy to ride but I believe your carrying it a bit too far. If you were human instead of a guinea pig and I'm assuming you are by your avatar picture you would not have had this accident. Your legs are just too short to reach the break pedal. :lecturef_smilie: :roflblack:

Did you replace them on your 2014? I've got a set and a swaybar that I need to get installed. This should be my incentive to get it done sooner rather than later.

Me, too . . . waiting for a "wrench day" to be announced by some friends I ride with . . . I don't have the ability to get it 20" off the ground. I also purchased Ron's links. RE the accident question, a guy posted pics on facebook (Can Am Spyder Owners page) of his RT. He fell asleep on an interstate highway, with his cruise control set at 70 MPH! It drifted into the median . . . he went off and broke a rib, but the Spyder actually remained upright and was just muddy as heck! As an aside, his guardian angel must have put him out, because, when they took him to the hospital and did a CT to see if there was any internal damage, they discovered he had very early lung cancer! . . . That accident saved his life . . . the dealer washed his Spyder!
