• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After the dealer messed up putting in the new shift shaft in, I took her home and re indexed the shift lever to the shaft properly and the Spyder shifts just fine. I got to ride it for a few times, then it quit starting. Turn the key on, cycle thru its warm up dance, push mode, push start, nothing. I tested buttons, kill switch, battery , everything I could and determined it was the starter. I found an independent shop in Provo who said he could, but didn't want to. After chatting a while longer, he said, "ok, bring it in". I got to his shop, it is literally a hole in the wall shop, full of old Harleys in various stages of disrepair. I thought "what have I got myself into". I met Rusty, the owner and mechanic, we visited a bit and I decided to leave the Spyder. What the heck, it was already a lawn ornament. No dealer in Utah would touch it. It couldn't get any worse. 10 days later I got a text, "your Spyder is ready". It starts, it runs, it drives, it shifts. Oh Joy! And best of all, Rusty says it wasn't too bad and as long as he could get parts, he would work on it. He also gave me the name of a dealer in Salt Lake who will work on these 10+ year old antiques. That's another hour and half on to the hour it takes to get to Rusty's. I'll stick with him for now. I am happy find an independent who will at least try.

Won’t Moto United in Draper work on it? They’ve been very good to me over the years. As a substitute teacher after I retired early, I taught one of their techs on and off through high school. Very smart lad.

I don't think they are a Spyder dealer anymore. I used them when they first opened in Draper and was very happy with them, but then they opened the branch in Bountiful and they said they had the better mechanics and sent me up there. Now owned by Young they won't work on my Spyder,"too old". I don't know their situation anymore so no I didn't check with them.

If older spiders had health insurance as their older riders do, this absolute thing wouldn't happen. Just imagine getting letters, emails, and advertisements to bring in your spider for anything that does or doesn't ail it?
