3" or 4"

Ok, this question is for the guys, I know what the gals would say.:roflblack:
I finally got the trailer hitch worked out (Bushtec). Next... which is better 3" or 4" riser?:dontknow:
I'm new to the Spyder thing and so far I'm loving it.:2thumbs: Rode Harley's since I was about 20. I'm 5'10" about 190 on a non beer day.:cheers: Reason for asking...... they ain't cheap.. Any suggestions. My bike is stock, no 1" riser.

Maybe sit on your bike in the position you feel most comfortable in. Have a measuring tape in one hand spool it out a bit, fiddle with hand height (rise) and how much "pull back" you want, and measure.

I did that with the 1" BRP riser already on and it's the additional 3" ESI riser for me. Not much choice because the 4" with the 1" BRP riser would not work.

6' 0" tall, 33" inseam, and 33" sleeve length.

My hunch is that unless you have really long arms - like 36-38" sleeve - it's probably gonna be 4".

If 4" is too much I'll bet you can sell the 4" and get the 3" and the incremental work is near zilch. Ditto for the other way around.

I'm 6'1"...wear 34-35 sleeve...Evan said for me to go with the 3" riser being I already have the 1" BRP riser...

This is what I'll likely do...might even have the dealership install it when I go in a couple of weeks for DPS upgrade...

One of the accessories that really made the Spyder more comfortable for me and the lovely bride.

I'm 6'2", I slouch when I ride far, and I have highway pegs which changes the posture slightly.

Anyhow, Ev said 4". I said, nah, they're gonna look like ape hangars. I got 3" risers (no BRP 1" riser here.)

It made a big difference, but I should've listened to Evan...

I have the SpiderCity 3" risers. It came down to a reluctance to cut off the original bars for me, and the price was good. Truth in lending, though, they have received some bad press here recently, although mine is fine.

On the side of the ESI risers, if you leave partial bars, you'll have additional room for mounts for GPS/MP3/radar etc. There are threads discussing each of these points, so search "risers" and/or "mount" and you'll be swamped with good info.

BTW, I'm 6'6" with 38" sleeves, so the three inches are good for me. I rode a stock one, and I greatly prefer the riser ride.

Get the 4"--- you can always adjust them however you want them to be.

I went for the 4"NMN risers. Boy what a difference.
A lot less stress on the back and a much nicer ride.
Especially when you ride with one hand :2thumbs:

My 3" black anodized ESI risers (I have the 1" BRP riser) arrived today..ordered them last Sunday. That in and of itself is pretty amazing and the quality of the pieces is top notch.

It was VERY DIFFICULT but I decoded the double super secret instructions inside which state that if I leave the box under the Spyder in a very particular orientation that the Spyder Gnomes will install them for me. :yes:

I'll keep you posted...
