• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Confusing info in the users guide - am I missing something, or what?

I’m 4+ weeks into the switch from a Harley trike to the 2022 Can Am Spyder RT and have some questions on info in the users guide.
It states there’s 3 modes, normal, eco and sport modes. I only have normal and eco modes, no sport mode. On the headlight selector switch section, it says it has low beam, high beam and flash high beams. I only have low and high beam selections, no high beam flash selection.

Am I missing something or is the users guide general in nature where these functions apply in some countries and not in others?

Google found information that said it's one of the buttons on the left handgrip, and added that not all models have Sport mode:

Sport Mode:
(Available on select models like the F3-S) Sharpens the throttle response and disables the traction control system, allowing for more spirited performance.

I don't have a copy of the 2022 Spyder RT Operators Guide, but the 2023 Spyder RT Operators Guide mentions Sport mode on page 51 in the section titled OPERATING MODES. What does that section in your Operators Guide say?

Copy mistakes as usual for BRP manual. Doesn't show a flash, but toggle low beam side of switch lower, it's a spring loaded feel for flash.

RT never had a sport mode, only some F3

Unfortunately the owners manual (and the repair manual) are notorious for having missing or wrong information - especially when you get to the 2024 where the screen and controls are different than the earlier models. Perhaps the English version of the manual was written by Québécois who hate folks who don't speak their version of French 🫢

On my 2024 Spyder RTL the high beam switch on the back of the left handlebar switch gear flips out away from the housing to turn on the high beams. Flip it back in to go back to low beams. Press the switch in (it's spring loaded) to flash the high beams; they are on as long as you hold the switch.

Most of the above posts are correct about the BRP Owner's Manuals.
I am guessing that BRP doesn't have to many English students who are good at proof-reading,
because their printed manuals are not very friendly. Just wanted you to know about that.

I find when in French speaking Canada my British Channel Islander French is so awful folks switch to English rather than hear me butcher their language so badly. I try to respect the local language but I see the frustration in their eyes. Same happens in Belgium and Switzerland too. In France they hold out for a little longer, but not by much. I do try though. C’est la vie, I suppose. The reality is I’m not much good at English either and after 36 years I still have problems with American English being a native cockney speaker.

It is interesting that there is actually no 'High Beam/Low Beam' in the classic understanding. In reality, your 'High Beam' is always on. Instead, BRP, as many others do today, uses shutters over a single light housing. Like opening and closing an eyelid, these shutters come down converting the high beam into a low beam configuration.

This is why your low beam will present a hard edged, flat pattern along the top.

It can also create a high beam 'Flashing' effect for vehicles in front of you when traversing a bumpy surface as your Spyder jostles up and down quickly in the low beam setting. Early on, I found that some would pull into the right lane for no reason at all to let me pass when I had no intensions of passing them. It confounded me until I discovered this reason.

When doing off road group rides in my CanAm side by side, I had to always inform the person in front of me that it would look like I was flashing them when going over rough terrain......
