• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

4" risers done for now

Good evening all. I finally have my risers far enough along to use them. I wanted to get some paint on them is selected areas, but I am going to Taos NM this weekend so I needed to get it all back together. Everything seems to be OK. I had one design requirement that I would not back off from and that was thinning out the area where the clutch reservoir sits. I have no explanation why I was so hard over about this. Maybe it was the challenge, because a challenge it was. That is why the controls are arranged as they are. I will try this and if I can live with it, I'll stay with them. I also had another idea while I was working on these so, I will get to that when I am feeling up to it. Also, I wanted to keep the handlebar cover as I think it looks very nice. I also wanted to get it painted as well(red), but I ran out of time. Anyways, good to share things with everyone.....Take care

Looks good.

Jim, nice work.

I was wondering if you think you would ever want the Risers to be adjustable. Sometimes, I like leaning forward, while other times, sitting up straight or slightly back, would seem to feel better. Given your experience, do you think there is enough play with the cables to tolerated going from, say, 1" to 4" with a 'simple' slide/locking adjustment?

By the way, I was thinking of going to Taos this weekend too.
Maybe I will see you there.

Hi Tom. I can picture an adjustable riser. Probably not with this design, at least not easily, but it could be done to give a limited amount of adjustment. I will be staying at the Best Western Kachina Lodge. Should arrive early Friday afternoon barring any problems. Will be a large group of people. Will be there until Sunday morning, then it is back to the inferno. There will be another spyder besides mine there, so if you get a chance, come and visit. Send me an e-mail. Thanks Jim

Switch Location

The turn signal is easy to reach. I just need to get used to it being in that position. I can take a finger and push the turn signal easily enough. Switch housing is down there because the clutch lever was prevented from a full pull by hitting the housing.

I see you've mounted the left switchgear on the lower bar.....is it hard to reach that way?

Okay, I didn't look at those two pictures close enough and put two and two together. Not that I'm perfect on using the turn signals at every intersection or on all lane changes but this layout virtually guarantees that you won't be able to use the blinkers unless you can remove your hand from the grip. Thats not always possible. The horn button, if needed in an emergency, also requires you to remove your hand from the grip. :sour: Plus, looking at the reverse actuator, it seems like that would be a little harder to operate being behind the riser block. I still think the basic riser design looks nice, kind of like lamonster's first risers, but I would not want my left controls mounted down there.
