• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Adding an aux powered fuse panel - want to make it switched. Need opinions

I am going to add a horn relay and a relay for the frunk switch, and I thought it would be a good time to just add a powered aux fuse panel with a couple of extra spots for down the road projects.

Is there a switched power source I can use for powering the panel, or at least use to activate a relay that powers the panel when I start the bike?

I was thinking about trying to mount it under the seat and use the 12v going to the existing fuse panel to power it, but that is constantly hot.

Ideas? Thanks
 
No, not on the 2012. Both ACC circuits are always hot, as you know. Download this, then you can open it up and zoom in without it getting all blurry. You can then find a place to tap in a relay if you'd like. Just a relay wouldn't use too much current. I assume that you are going to power the horn itself from an always live circuit like it already is.

Actually I was going to put the horn on a switched circuit instead of being live all the time. The aux panel I bought is a simple 4-fuse panel. Since I have to put the frunk on a switched circuit, I thought I'd just do a fuse panel that was switched and run the horn and frunk off of it.

Worst case - if I have to just have an always-hot panel I can deal with it. I would just prefer to have it switched.

I guess the electric frunk switch only works when the bike is on... so if my panel is hot the frunk is still okay with the bike off.

I removed the analog temp gauge and put a voltmeter in its place. I suppose I could tap into that to activate the relay that turns on the aux fuse panel?

Those Orange/Red wires to that gauge come from Main relay #2, which would be just fine to operate a relay. And just to cover all bases, if you remove the analog fuel gauge also, if you haven't already, then the center LCD display will switch to displaying the fuel and temp as little digital bar graphs on either side of the display. They will just be on the opposite side - left and right - and be more accurate.

Then you just need to figure out what you want to put in that hole. A lot of people have done that mod.

Then, take your choice. Both of those are switched and are ultimately fed from F3. Although, take care that you don’t put too large of a load in that 12v. If F3 blows, you’re dead in the water. Use the one in the rear trunk for the big stuff. Maybe consider a USB in there instead
