• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Air Shocks

I had the bike apart for the last month, so I could do some mods.
We rode the bike 3 or 4 times and I noticed that every time I stop at a light the rear lowers.
I did not notice that before. is it normal?

Page 58 in the owners manual

"NOTE: It is normal to hear pressure release
or the air compressor operating
while engine is running. It indicates
the suspension is self-adjusting."

:agree: But what you describe is not normal. You might burn out your air compressor if you do not correct this problem now.

If it's not normal, what should I look for?
a broken line or a leaking shock?
How do you know if the shock seals are bad?

Check the air bag connections to the air compressor.
Check to make sure the air bag itself is not leaking air.
If it was your shocks you would be bouncing around on the bike as the shocks cannot control the dampening and rebound.

Now I am confused

Maybe I'm just reading into what is being asked here. So when you come to a stop, how much is your rear actually lowering? Is it for a few secs or longer. How hard are you braking?

Even though I've been riding a spyder since '09, I just got this RT in July. My wife is trying to "steal" riding time from me, but before she hits the road, we've been practicing in a school parking lot. Since I'm watching from the street, I can hear a lot more of what the bike is doing than when I'm on it. So the manual says it automatically adjusts for road conditions and load changes (weight). So that tells me the there is a predetermine ride height that it wants to maintain.

So during hard braking exercises (unloading the rear end), I can hear a psssst (air being released from the air bag). I haven't really paid attention to see how much the rear was lowering to get to the predetermined ride height. I can't really hear if the compressor is activated when she rides away, but I'm sure it adds a lil air to compensate for the rear "squatting"(loading the rear end) when the throttle is applied.

So I don't think you have a leaking air bag, or you would hear not only when you stop, but it would continue when you shut the bike off. One way to check would be to shutoff the bike when the rear end starts to lower/ hear the air venting out. (In a safe area of course).

Maybe more seasoned RT owners can chime in with better info. Just like you, I'm just learning about the RT, and I would like to know if something is wrong with my spyder.

Mine has done this a couple times when coming to or at a stop. As it turns out it was the valve under the seat that needed tightening.

What's happening is I come to a stop and a second or 2 later it kind of drops.
