• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another SealFloorboard review

I finally bit the bullet & bought a set of floorboards for my RT, and picked the Sealfloorboards. John has these made about 15 miles from my home, so I not only saved shipping, I got to meet the production team - very nice guys John.

Installation was truly easy, and the main bolts are long enough to put the weights back on. However, my bride is TALL (5'11"), and the passenger floorboards will not go low enough with the Seals installed - she prefers to have them removed, and use the back of the Seals - which is OK, I guess.

I had aluminium construction in the back of my mind, but they are powder-coated steel, and very robust (bit heavy too). Don't drop one during the install.

Once installed, the Seals make the Spyder feel even more like a newer ATV, with the built in 'boards - not a bad thing - and adjusting to the new brake position takes a bit of thought, at first - but the system works. I will attest that even with only 50 miles on them, you will find a comfortable foot position - or probably several.

I had "scuff guards" on, as my highway pegs - and they must be removed - and left off - to install the Seal boards. I was also concerned that the engine heat would be more noticeable, and that is not the case - in fact, the opposite is true.

All-in-all, these were a pleasant surprise, and worth the effort and cost.

I am looking to pick a set up for our :spyder2: thanks for the review :2thumbs:! My wife is 5'10" and was just asking about the leg room with the seal floorboards. I showed her your post and she likes the idea of being able to move her legs with the extra space. Now I need to figure out when I can make the road trip to pick them up. Looking forward to a fun ride through the gorge on the Wa. side of the Columbia.

I also live close to John in Beaverton. I have the boards on my RT-S SE5 and really love them. There is definitely less heat at the right foot and like the front "highway peg" position for foot placement. The is a bit of vibration up front though. I have the brake pad raised about 3/8 inch and may go a bit higher with some longer bolts.

Great product!

Thanks for the nice review. I must say I was a bit surprised, but very pleasantly so, to have you as one of my customers. You have been very supportive from the first time we met and I did my first preliminary sketches for the RT Floorboard at your home using your friend, from Boise, RT. Lots of passengers prefer to use the FloorBoard rather than the rear foot pegs. Most often they just fold the pegs up. Not sure how removing them will work with the rear bracket. Again, thank Bill and..........

Ride in comfort,

John

It takes me a long time to find a flaw in the RT's ergonomics, and a longer time to decide on the proper fix. When none of the local dealers carry any non-BRP parts (and bloody few of those), and the low number of RTs on the road, it makes choosing products from websites and forum comments very difficult.

It was MUCH easier with my old RS, it needed everything.

Nice write-up. We ordered a set and I'm anxiously waiting for their arrival. Like you, my wife is taller and plans on using the Seal FloorBoards instead of the stock passenger boards. I told her that I would move the stock boards to a higher position to give her another option for foot placement on longer trips if she wanted to fold them down.

I was also curious about the engine heat. I'm glad that the heat is less of an issue. I was thinking that the way the Seal FloorBoards are designed, that there would be less heat from the catalytic converter radiating up to the foot area. I also thought that the built in hwy board would block some of the heat from the radiator.
