:congrats::2thumbs::riding::riding::riding:I now suspect that dealer applied zip tied vacuum hose is/was a major contributing factor to my initial engine problems.
As an experiment, I attached a temporary smaller zip tie to the vacuum hose fitting - one that I was actually able to attach tight enough so that I could no longer pull the hose off by hand. The dealership had used a big one that is usually seen on the frame holding wire bundles together.
Filled the tank with gas and Seafoam.
Went out for a 225 mile ride thru small towns and interstate highways at various speed ranges.
Engine ran great - very smooth at all speeds. Actually hit 200 miles on the gas tank where my normal is about 175.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the new silicone vacuum hoses do the trick, and, that new CPS unit when it arrives.ray:

Sounds good. Regardless, replace the parts. Not worth getting stranded, especially if the sensor is intermittent, or possiblely you somehow lessened a vacuum leak. The hoses are a known problem.
Ordered a new CPS unit - still about 15 days until its available.
Silicone vacuum hoses - are these things as rare as hen's teeth? Called 4 NAPA stores today and no 1/8 inch anywhere. Also called about 5 other auto parts stores without success. One place referred me to a nearby company that deals with all sorts of tubes, hoses, lines, etc. Poor guy on the phone found 1/8 inch hose but was not sure of its type - close to their quitting time, so he probably didn't want to get too involved in finding out.
Guess I'll buy something online as I see many sites that sell the stuff.
Fun times ahead.......
Thanks for all the comments so far.........
I have a 2013 STS and wondering if I should have a sensor on hand if this is a common thing? How much do the sensors run and is it easy to access?
About how many miles do you have on yours?
Only time in the past I had a stall issue I think it was due to those hoses.
Thanks
.
PM me your address. I will send you a foot of the silicon hose I have left over from
working on my 2013 STS.
I also did a canisterectomy and was very pleased with the results.
Got the new CPS unit installed yesterday along with the new silicone vacuum hoses a few days ago. Had a nice long 250 mile ride and everything went well - except for that dang thunderstorm that came the west and chased my butt back home for 60 miles. I did beat it, however......
Thanks to everyone for your comments and suggestions.
Guess I will look into the canister thingy next - seems simple enough by the posts I've read.
