• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any ideas?

On how much 'customization' BRP or Zurich allows before they pull the guarantee/warranty protection? I'm making what I consider minor changes, mostly comfort/safety items that IMHO BRP should have had anyway.

ALLOWS ? ? ?

If it doesn't have BRP stamped on it somewhere probably not......However the Magnussen - Moss act ( ? ), gives you legal protections against false claims by any company who says such and such caused a certain failure.......Mike

I would say if your really concerned you should stick to having the dealer install add ons too. I didn't do that but I haven't had any issues.

Well... What have you changed? If you put lightweight racing pistons in, and the motor blows up; do you think that any warranty should apply?
But... add and extra brakelight, and have the same motor blow... how about then? ;)

I am guessing that modifications to the engine or drive train COULD get you into trouble if you have warranty issues. Cosmetic or comfort items (seats, handlebar risers, mirror extensions, etc.) should not be an issue.

You don't say what your planning. Will you give us more information?

Like I said

comfort and safety, so far, Seal Floorboards, Ultimate backrest. Next is the higher tail/brakelight, then probably the BajaRon Antisway bar.

Changing the sway bar or shocks would probably cause some raised eyebrows if you had a suspension failure...
Other than that;

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that unless a modification can be shown to have caused or to have aggravated a failure, the failure should be warrantied. The entire warranty cannot be vacated in any case. That doesn't mean your dealer wouldn't hassle you...or that you might not have to fight a denial, but if the mod isn't related, it should have no bearing on the coverage under the law.

And there you have it..!!

:agree: Just think logically and you will be fine or ask here before hand. Better if you have something specific..!!

As said above the manufacture needs to prove cause and effect. Putting floorboards on doesn't effect throttle bodies function for example but 50 pounds of Led's wired by the owner, not a trained installer may effect warrentee on the electrical system issues. Another issues is the cost of the Farlkes adding to the total cost of the Spyder in a total loss or theft. For example that Sharkskin custom hand made seat added to the hand painted artwork could add for example $4,000 to the cost of a 2008 GS model which may only be covered for $8,000 instead of $12,000. In this case you need to document with reciepts and photograph the cosmetic add ons and get a rider to the insurance policy to cover these items. The riders add a small amount to the policy premium but if needed pays dividends.
