• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone use Deer whistles? Do you think they work?

I was testing deer whistles on my wife's car, a few years ago . . . I had to cancel before I completed the test, however, because a deer I hit on a Friday, and a deer I hit the following Monday broke them off her car's bumper . . . so I never did get to find out if they work, or not! :gaah:

I used to have them, for years, on my GoldWing, then on my Burgman, then on my FJR1300. Got nailed by a deer on my GoldWing, and another on the Burgman. So, that's my sad story and I'm stickin' to it. I don't have them on the Spyder!

Remember Subaru spelled backwards is ' U R A BUS'

I used to have a part time business transporting horses for people who didn't have trailers. When a vehicle with deer whistles passed me with horses in the trailer, as they got just ahead of the trailer some horses would spook a little from the whistle sound. Never had a horse do that when the vehicle was behind the trailer.

If you search the web you will come across the study that was done on the dear whistles. They are proven to be of no use so if one has had no hits its pure good fortune. They do make a powered electronic unit that has been tested and suggests it helps but it too was not 100%. Several public agency's have been contributing data to this study.

I've run them on all my vehicles for over 25 years. I've had numerous experiences of deer coming up to the road, then turning around and running off the way they came. For 6 bucks (pun intended!) a pair they're well worth the investment. Now if they'd just come up with one for dip:cus:s blabbing on, or screwing around with their phones 'n such! :pray:
