• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

At what age did you, or would you switch ???

my fiancee and i are 36 and bought the rts. we also just got the rs and its absolutely awsome! i road it last night for the first time. a little over 30 miles.(its only 20 degrees) way different than the rts! i dont care what anyone thinks. i am enjoying both of them!

I have an RT but when I ride locally I sometimes wish I had an RS too. It's the sportiness of it. I need then RT because I carry many things in my bags. I try and be ready for anything plus I'm slow at packing and unpacking. :2thumbs:

Have a RS and would not consider a RT at this time. I am adding touring options to the RS but I will be able to remove them when I want to just cruise around town.

I'm 58 and love the ryde and the attention it gets. :2thumbs:

I know what you all are saying about ride what you want and having two Spyders ( I wish ) is not an option for me. But have you every pulled up to a stop light and seen a late model corvette ( or comparable vehicle ), and inside the car is a seasoned person ( I'm trying to be politically correct here without ruffleing any feathers ) ? I told myself I would never become that person !!! Don't get me wrong, seasoned people are a plethera of knowledge with tons of experience, but I don't want the younger generation behind me to point at me and say, whats that old guy doing on that hot looking Spyder ??? And yes, my wife also agrees with Mouthpiece. LOL
Most people that point and stare at us "old folks", do it out of respect or envy. Let's face it, when we are young we cannot afford they toys we might like to have. When I drive my hotrod, nobody notices that I am a geezer, they just notice the Effie. Same goes with the bikes...old or new, plush or spartan. Don't get hung up on the demographics, and the idea that a certain ride is for a certain age group. Ride what you like, and to heck with the onlookers. Maybe there is a good shrink that is also a SpyderLover, who can help you get over this mental block you seem to have. :joke:

Wait a minute, that goes against everthing i've learned on this site. I was taught you will never see a Spyder in front of a shrinks office. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I don't have my RT-S yet, it is on the truck headed to south Texas. I have a Gold Wing Motor Trike (59K) and love it. I am 78, (riding since 16) and rode a Spyder demo several times and really liked it too.

I had a 1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200, sold it and bought a 2007 Bandit 1250. I sold the 1250 last summer as I seemed to always jump on my Wing and left the Bandit in the barn. ( I ride my Burgman 650 on Wal-Mart trips) I quit riding with the "crotch rocket gang" when I turned 75....

This RT may be my last scoot....may, I said! Hell, I may not live another 25 years and plan to go out broke! I told my kids, sell the Wing to bury me sitting on my RT-S....I am gonna ride it through the gates....:D

I bought a RT and ordered a Utopia backrest to be installed, along with XM, CB and GPS systems. I take long day rides with my group, the Hill Country Road Riders, and want comfort vs rocket rides as in the past....it is hell getting old.

My son asked when "when will you quit riding?" I said "when they pry my cold dead hand off of the throttle!"

I have a small plastic step stool in the barn which I will use to climb on the Wing or RT if the knee gets any worse...and it will, but I am prepared....ha ha

Frankly I am not sure about the age thing. I think it is called a money factor. Most younger folks are buying the cheaper crotch rockets becuase of many reasons.. Not that advanced yet in employment, college, young family, young relationship, newer to home ownership, all equal monies going to areas of greater need.

Most I said, not all.

I think age comes into play as does physical ability to many Spyder Ryders. It just depends on personal wants and or needs as to which one they bring home.

The Spyders are still new. It is your money. The heck withe everyone's opinions... They are still in cages or on the Ego bike. Get what works for your needs and you will be happy. Get one because of a false understanding of perception and not be happy.

SO Your in your 30s...... or are you ? GOOD NEWS - The "30s" are the new "20s ! What was the old "20s" are the new "Teens" ! Because of this I'm in my 30s now. I ride a white RS-S. Although I Iiked the phantom alot- whites the new black.

I think on a lot of these threads it woud be nice if we could all just GRECIAN up a bit.

Hey, just keep your helmet on and nobody will see the gray hair! Works for me, and I"m 68. I'm not giving up on my GS/RS any time soon, either. I prefer a tight, accurate and frisky ryde to wallowing around in comfort, lol. Maybe when the arthritis catches up with me......

I'm 32 and given the chance to choose between the rt and rs, I pick rt everytime.

Although I don't own a :spyder2: yet, I've ridden them both and my goal is to have one of each. I received my fair share of questions and friendly ribbing when I purchased my goldwing at a relatively "young" age; even more when I added the sidecar. Some days I love piloting the rig; on others I enjoy leaning with my vtx. My philosophy of riding is consistent with my view on life; "I try to do it from the inside looking out, not from the outside looking in".

I waited until 62 before my first spyder. Bought the RS when it first came out and the RTS when it first came out (2010). Age had nothing to do with it--but the money did. Never bought a $20K plus motorcycle until the Spyders came out.

I like your attitude! People like you inspire me!:2thumbs:
I'm 53 ride an RT because I like the comfort. Even when I was in my 20's I rode "crusers style" bikes.
