• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bad rear tire

I have 10,000 miles on my 2011 RT. The tire pressure has always been where it is suppose to be. Why then is my rear tire wearing down the middle? :hun:

It's just what they do. The Kenda has only a two-ply tread, and is prone to ballooning at speed, so the center tends to wear first if you do much highway riding. Small adjustments in pressure have helped some, but not others. Typical life for the rear tire is 10,000-12,000 miles. Some get more and some get less. Mine was replaced at 14K. That's good compared to my BMW which gets 5,000-8,000 on a rear tire that is more expensive than the Spyder tire, so I'm satisfied.

Had to have mine replaced at 10,200 miles and a guy who had come in for service had his changed at 10,400. So I guess that is the life expectancy.:spyder2:

KUMHO

try these on the front:

and this one on the rear:

for
the rear, get the 225/50R15...

I HAVE OVER 10,000 MILES ON MINE, AND HAVE WITNESS ALMOST 'ZERO' WEAR, AND THESE HAVE ENHANCED MY PERFORMANCE CONSIDERABLY AND I ALSO SEE AN IMPROVEMENT IN GAS MILEAGE... I RUN MINE 5 PSI HIGHER THAN SPEC... THE KUMHO's ARE FAR SUPERIOR THAN THE KENDA's, AND I'M SURPRISED BPR ISN'T USING THESE AS THEIR OEM TIRES....

As mentioned above, pretty much anything over 11K is good. I got 15K out of my last tire--but it was looking pretty thin at that point.

I went with a Falken ZE 912 out back with 26 psi in it. After 3000 miles; it still looks like new! (I only had 7000 miles on the original.)

I agree with the tire choices here, but I would check Discount tire Direct.com for prices....they ship for free.....Mike

Scotty is right. 2 ply tread isn't enough to keep the tire flat across the tread. I'm running a Toyo but all car tires have 4 plies across the tread. My Toyo has 17k on it and it's wearing evenly. I've done quite a bit of high speed, freeway riding with both tires.

I got 13.5 out of the stock Kenda. But I must say I've spun this Toyo way more than I ever did the Kenda so it isn't a true comparison.

Michelin HydroEdge 215/60R15

On my RT, I got about 12K out of the original tire & have put on a Michelin HydroEdge 215/60R15 as a replacement. No issues as of yet, but only have 7000-8000 miles on it. I have noticed that with the slightly different tire size, my speedo is normally within 1 mph of my GPS (speedo reads high) and my odo reads 1.8 miles short at 100 miles on the GPS. This is much closer than with the original tire size.
