There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I have a BRP model trailer hitch that I purchased on ebay. goofball me didn't know I needed a control module for the lights....... I have the wiring harness that actually plugs into the trailer but don't have the control module. any ideas as where to find one other than local can am dealer?

RT Hitch

Here are the parts of the RT Hitch. I assume RT you did not say. If for ST, 2 licence plate relocator bracket and extra harness needed. You say you did not get the module. What about the other harnesses? Check with a BRP dealer for how much the module would cost. If it's pricey someone may have an alternative.

Cheaper to order complete harness(plug and play) from big bike ! $73 , BRP module has a habit of going bad!
Harness included !

I am pulling the 2013 RT622 & I am looking for the control module in that pic below my post (right in the middle) square box with wires coming out both sides guess you disconnect the OEM plugs & add this into the fray.......hahaha

Is it a true bonified BRP hitch or a copy?

The "Y" harness in the pic above is what plugs into the Spyder harness, the module plugs into it, and the coiled wire plugs into the module and goes down to the hitch. You can buy all three as individual pieces from your dealer. I suggest you at least buy the Y harness from the dealer. If you're handy with basic electrical wiring you can cut the connector off and wire a module that you can get from many places. Auto parts stores will usually have a 5 wire to 4 wire adapter. You can buy a 5 to 5 or 5 to 4 module for a Goldwing that will work good. Those will supply the current for the trailer lights from a separate fused circuit which is in the Y harness. You can buy or make a pigtail to go from the module to the hitch. If your trailer is 4 wire, i.e. brake and turn lights are the same, you're in like flint really.

ON EBAY? I hope you enjoy that Black Currant 2013 RT 622 trailer from Alabama that you "WON" on Ebay :lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie:

She said she bought a hitch, not a trailer.

Did someone steal your trailer? Is that the reason for your snarky comment?

Ground

Make certain the trailer has the new ground harness. We puffed a couple of them before we got that. @150 bucks, that module should last a bit longer. Number 3 is working great; the ground harness made the difference!

I don't want to sound dumb, but what ground harness are you talking about? I have lost one BRP module and waiting on the
dealer to replace it and don't want to go through another one.
Thanks,
Toby

If you are riding an RS do not worry about control module, just wire a 4 pin directly to the lights on RS. If you are riding a 2014 RT you do not need a control module,
If you are riding an 2010 -2013 RT then you need a control module and you will need to contact your dealer to order one. You could try E-Bay but they are hard to find.

I misread the the post, she did not steal it from me, my bad.

And to elaborate on this i will say that she did not "steal" it from anyone.

exactly.......... the trailer was not *won* on ebay & I never stated that it was.......... the trailer hitch was *won* on ebay..... last time I checked the hitch is a totally separate part than the trailer itself..........

I am riding a 2014 RT Limited & the control module that came with the trailer hitch assembly is the one that is bad............ I am assuming that I need that since it came with the OEM part.

No you do not need a control module for a 2014 Rt with the new triple motor. Just wire the trailer lights directly to the spyder tail lights. my friend bought a trailer wiring harness(Spyder end) for his new 2014 spyder RT (square four pin BRP OEM ) he then cut the square connector off and wired on a flat four connector

If someone can find you a part # then order a new one from Big Bike Parts or Cheap Cycle Parts.

I have dragged around a lot of trailers in my life and in the process fixed a lot of trailer wiring issues. I have come to the conclusion that I will never connect in a trailer harness directly unless it was a emergency. Isolator modules have become reasonably inexpensive and will save a lot headaches if a problem occurs.

An isolator is used to protect bike components from possible shorts in the trailer wiring more so than avoid normal type overloading. On the Spyder the cluster supplies the power to the back end lights. Cheaper to replace a $2 fuse than a $500 cluster.
