• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check Engine Light

My Check Engine Light came on this morning when I first started it up. I turned it off and then back on and no light. Should I be worried??

Not an uncommon event and most of the time it clears and won't happen again until next year. the :spyder2:computer has sensitive days

Okay, I went to pick up my trailer this weekend. Have not had the light again. Drove around 250 miles, no issues. Got to hotel, then came back out later that night to go eat and everything is still fine. The next morning, started it up, CE light, idling rough. Did this 3 more times. Last time I put it in gear and it sounded like metal on metal banging, not good. Turned it off quickly. Started it one last time and it started normal. Went to dealer to get the trailer, talked to service dept and said it could be bad gas (it was low, not real low though). Hooked the trailer, started normal. Went home, stopped several times, no problems. Let it sit for a couple days, started it this morning, same thing, CE light and idling rough!!!! Had to reset 4 times and it started normal. Did not put it in gear in fear the engine would come apart (until it ran normal). Drove it to work and everything seems okay. WTF?? Guess its off to the dealership!!!

I have had the same happen to me a couple of times. Yours is sounding like there is a problem since it is now happening a lot.

A couple quick questions though:

Did you put your machine in trailer towing mode when you were towing the trailer? (I am assuming you are driving an RT).

Are you allowing the computer to take its time when booting up? Key on, e-brake off, mode (I read the safety card), then start. I let each thing happen completely before I get going. Sometimes the computer is having a "bad day".

I also note you are from Buford GA. I was there for a visit back in the days when the tannery was up and running. I worked for the leather company that owned it. IMO: Buford is a beautiful town.

You have throttle body issues.

Did it get cool overnight? Mine used to do the same thing between 40 and 60 degrees F on a cold start.

Take it to the dealer and tell them about it. They will most likely replace the throttle body and do a software update. I am sure you have seen the warranty campain on the forums for this.

I talked to Fred Rau yesterday and he's having the same issues, they think it's the throttle body acting up.

Yes, put it in trailer mode.
Yes, letting it fully come up.
I've been here in Buford for about 7 years (originally from Valdosta, GA area), it is pretty nice, but some run down areas too, like most towns.

No, it was not cool, probably 70 degrees, maybe a few degrees +/-

I agree, sounds like the throttle body (comparing to some other threads). Guess I will be taking it in soon. :(

You don't list what year/model you have, but there is a throttle body software update (2011-7) for 2011 RT machines. I don't know if it is for other years or models. I had this done per info from Lamont. I also had -8 ( new grommets) and -9 (parking brake spring replacement) done. All under warranty.

I could not tell any difference after the -7 update, and I have not had any idle, stalling or hot start problems. Lamont and my tech said I should have them done, so I did. As said here often, loose battery terminals cause many problems.

I do have an 2011.

I have seen them listed before, but can't find them right now. Where are these updates listed?

Hawk, I don't think there is a BRP update listing. I read Lamonts post a few weeks back when he listed them. I think he got his info from a dealer, maybe BRP as he is close to them. Your dealer will update your computer for -7, install new grommets for -8 and install a new spring on your parking brake for -9.
