There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Converting 6 pole WAGS trailer to 4 pole square Spyder

Any guidance anyone can give about converting a 6 pole WAGS trailer to a 4 pole square Spyder will be greatly appreciated...

trailer wiring

Picking up trailer far from home. It has the amber turn signal lights. Could I take those wires to the respective 4-square and use them as both turn and brake lights and the red as only tail lights? I could change the lens to red which seems easier than re-wiring the trailer to separate the existing brake lights into turn/brake.

Thanks for all the help.

If you are in a time crunch maybe & only if you had informed escort to help :lecturef_smilie:
Just you & general traffic :yikes: No way, not me bud! I'd find another way to transport it!
Inside a truck bed or another trailer with good lighting :coffee: Getting it home & getting the lights right is better than being rear-ended from crazy light issues.

Check out Hopkins 47975 - 4 pin square. I had to connect a 4 pin round to my bike. Bought a standard 4 pin round and this Hopkins connect and made up a short connect between the Spyder and the trailer.

The trailer has amber turn signals. That means it is not a 4 wire system like the Spyder. But we still don't know if the trailer is actually a 6 wire or 5 wire system. Highly likely it's 5 wire. Then you need an electronic converter and build an adapter using that. Here is an example of one I found when I did a google search. https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Curt/C56196.html It separates the combined right and left brake/turn into right turn, left turn and brake.

Thank you. This appears to be the solution. One of the reviews was for a Spyder. Some reviews mentioned a diode, is this necessary? Thank you again.

There should be no need for any diodes on a trailer. Diodes would only be needed if your where towing a car.

I know this thread is almost 8 years old, but I just purchased a used Escapade Trailer with the 6 pole square plug, no brakes on the trailer but it has a cargo light in the trailer. I appreciate reading through this as I think the Curt box is the way to go to separate the signals for left, right, and brake. Thanks for the diode explanation as well.
My question is, does the 5 wire Spyder wiring harness carry 12v so I can keep the light, or is it a brake power connection?

I would say pull out the meter and see what you've got going there, write it down on a piece of paper and wire it up to the trailer, you may need a extra wire for the trailer light, but I don't know how long I would run that light without the motor running to keep a full charge on it! You may need to put a solar charger and a battery somewhere in the trailer to run on its own as an independent power source.
