• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Details of Windshield Bracket

There is a thread here at this link.

The OP:doorag: shows a bracket that he made to raise the BR windshield a couple of inches. At a height of 5' 10", I tend to get some buffeting at highway speeds, that hits me about halfway up on my full face helmet. Seems to me this rather inexpensive modification is something I should try before "chucking" the entire BR windshield and looking for another solution.

The OP was Machingunner, and I have tried contacting him, but got no response. Questions are...

  1. Has anyone else tried this particular modification? Results?
  2. Are there any other details or dimensions around for the bracket?
  3. Might there be other methods that have been found to raise the BR windshield?

Would appreciate any additional info on this particular "bracket" solution. Of course;), I am well aware there are several 3rd Party solutions - at considerable more cost than the brackets. Thanks...

I was going to go down the same road and use spacers to raise the screen up a bit. My personal tastes and opinion excluded a couple of the aftermarket solutions and the price another. I just recently found one of the Gustafsson windscreens (bikescreens.com) for sale here on SL by another member. He had gone for the shorter screen (17") but decided afterwards that due to his 6'1" height he needed the taller screen. At 5'10" the 17" is perfect for me. reduces the buffeting significantly but still gives you enough wind to stay comfortable. I have to admit I stumbled into a deal but having had the chance to use it, I would have paid full price to have the extra wind blocking with the OEM look.

Thanks...

All good info. Thanks a lot for the replies. I wasn't sure what a Laminar Lip was... but looked it up and found the company. I will investigate further.
