Does anyone know of a Foot-Shift Pedal Extension for 2013 RS SM5? Any advice?

I recently bought a 2013 Spyder RS SM5. First, I know these models' parts are hard to come by when they are not OEM. Shortly after getting used to it from a standard softail motorcycle, I realized it felt like I was riding a street bike. This was causing pain in my neck and upper back. I have long legs, and I felt extremely cramped up. So, I upgraded a few things on the Spyder.

  • Exchanged handlebars from RS to ST model.
  • Added Rivco footboards.
  • Installed brake extender.
  • AM comfortable seat.

It has me sitting in a more upright seating position.

My question is, I have looked everywhere for an extension for the foot shifter, but I can't find anything anywhere. Does anyone know of any company that sells an extender or even a heel toe shifter to move the shifter forward about 2 or 3 inches?

I was even thinking of having one fabricated but wanted to see if there is one, I could purchase. I have not found anything after weeks of searching, just ones that were sold long ago.
Becoming a pain to keep having to kick my foot back to shift.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have heard of brake pedal extenders, but not shift lever or heel/toe shifters for the Spyder RS models.

Fabrication may be the way you have to go on this one. Others will chime in.

Spyderextras.com has a shift pedal extension designed for F3s.
I have no idea if it would fit an RS, but it can't hurt to contact them.

Their part number is: SF3-SHEXT

Hi. I've just seen your post and don't know if you're still on the forum, but hoping you are. I've a 2012 RS and I was wondering what bars you used to change the seating position? 🤔 All I can find is bar risers. Regards.

Hi @Biggles, it always pays to check the date of the first post in a thread before replying, and the dates of the last few posts in it too, so that as you've worked out here, you can see how long the thread has been left dormant. Beyond that, if you click on the round avatar pic above the username next to any post, it'll show you a heap of info for that particular poster, including the date of when they last visited the Forum. In this case, if you do that you'll see that @jbenn086 shows as last being here back in Nov 2024, making just the one post, and then disappearing... So it's not all that likely that you'll get a response - it's still possible tho, so maybe your post above is worth a shot, altho it's just not likely! :cautious:

That said, with regard to your question, in the opening post of this thread @jbenn086 does say:

The early ST Models used effectively the same handlebars as the 2010 to 2019 RT handlebars, and there were quite a few owners of GS/RS/RSS model Spyders who sourced those ST/RT bars (either new from BRP, or 2nd hand 'take-offs' from when other owners fitted the Tri-axis bars to their ST/RT's - sadly, I don't believe those Tri-axis bars will fit the GS/RS/RSS models) and installed them on their ST/RT's to help them find a better seating position/the right angle for their hands/arms/shoulders, so finding a set of those OEM ST/RT bars might be worth you trying. As they're becoming an 'older model' now, you'll probably need to source those bars from a bike dismantler these days, or maybe you'll be lucky enough to source them off one of the internet marketplaces; but given that you're in Scotland, there might not be too many around locally, and freight might be an issue if you hafta get them from elsewhere. As a result, you might just find that the handlebar risers are the easiest and cheapest way for you to achieve what you're after, or maybe you'll need to resort to a little innovative fabrication?!

Good Luck! (y)
