• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. DYNA BEADS... Does anyone use this product?

This product is used for balancing tires, but I'm not sure I buy into their theory. I was wondering if any of our wheel season riders have any experience using this product.

My riding buddy says, the riders in his VTX club swear by them...:dontknow:

There is a dearth of information on http://www.innovativebalancing.com/ where they make lots of claims. I cannot find anything to substantiate their claims. May be a miracle product . . . May not . . .

Used them in my M109R, worked like a charm! I use the Ride-On in the :spyder2: , since it adds the benefit of flat prevention and they are a site sponsor.

I use them in my Harley tires and work great. However, we may have an issue with using them in the Spyder tires especially the rear. I think they would work in the front, but if I remember correctly, there is some statement on low profile tires that suggest that Dyna Beads will not work as well on the rear tire, or maybe you need more (sorry I can't remember the exact issue, but there is something on low profile tires).

Bottom line I love them in the Harley tires and would like to use them in the Spyder, so if anyone has any experience, I would like to hear from them also.

Using Dyna Beads now for about 3 months. Made a difference over the traditional wheel weights. Rides smoother and less vibration. Put it in all three tires. Worth the money on my Spyder. I would recommend them. Wish I would have tried the Ride-On product instead because of the flat tire protection aspect.

Maybe you should consider Ride-On. It also offers the tire balancing benefit and flat protection.

Does anyone have any idea how and/or why either one works as a wheel balancing alternative to "normal" wheel balancing?

Flat protection has been around for years and years -- but internal wheel balancing sounds suspect to me.

Ok, I will try to explain.

When an unbalanced tire goes up, the ride-on or beads try to remain stationary.

The end result is that when the tire goes up, the ride-on or beads will move down. This will continue until the up and down motion stops.

Now if you had an unbalanced wheel in the air spinning where there is no real bounce then it wouldn't work.

I hope this explains it.

Bill, I don't quite understand the "how" of these products, but I can tell you they work. In my 109, I removed the wheel weights, added the Dynabeads, and it made an already smooth ride even smoother. Same thing with the Ride-on for the spyder.

The Dynabeads folks have a pretty good video of the beads in action using a plastic bottle on their website. At least it will give you an idea of what is happening internally.

Dyna Beads

I have used Dyna Beads for about 3 years in ALL of my vehicles. The performance is terrific.
2007 GMC Denali with 20" tires
2008 Chev HHR with 17" tires
2008 Spyder
2004 Honda Rune
2007 IronHorse Motorcycle trailer
2008 18' Featherlite Car Trailer
Easy installation, excellent results, slight mess if you have to replace tire!

Interesting! If you check their website they specifically do not recommend their product for cars or SUVs.

Still sounded fishy.... until I watched that video?

Sounds like the better product to use on the Spyder is Ride-On.

I've been using them for...

three years now. Mostly in the motorcycle tires. On the Goldwings they have been doing a bang up job. It's like getting a new wheel balance every time you start to roll.

I haven't had to tried them in the spyder yet. But I will when I put on some new tires. /Ken

I read that they dont "kick in" until approx 30mph. So what, off balance ride until then? Also they dont recommend in a car tire because of the mondern day low profile design of the tire. Isnt that pretty much what we have on the back?

for me, my tires ride smooth as they are.

brutus450... that is...

that is correct they really go to work about 30 to 35 but once they are in position the do not fall to the bottom again until you stop completely. That is why you get a new balance at every startup.I spin balance first then add 2 to 3 oz of the beads depending on tire size for a perfect balance. Overkill I know but they are always smooth as silk when rolling. /Ken
