• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FedEx is the worst!!!

Daniel, my shop manager and head tech, found a great price on a popular, rare, mint condition, limited edition, leather bound book. They delivered it but he didn't receive it. He called and they sent him a picture of the package on the porch, of the house across the street. They said, 'You need to go retrieve it'. He attempted to do so, but the residents said they never saw it. Which he knew was a lie. FedEx refunded his money but he's out a book that he may never find again.

To rub it in. He later purchased a large fire ring, which again, showed delivered but he didn't get it. He called and they again gave him a picture and the address it was delivered to. Right number, this time, wrong street. They sent the driver to retrieve it the next day but the guy said, 'No way! I'm keeping it.' And that was the end of that. UPS this time.

Daniel lives on a small lot on a main street. Pretty much one of the easiest delivery spots you could imagine. But they still can't get it right.
UPS or even USPS for me too.

I bought a large air compressor from Lowes. Had to wait a long time for it to be delivered and picked it up with my own truck. Got home and found a fork puncture hole through the box. I did look it over when they loaded it. Saw nothing because the employees loading it placed the box in my truck with the damage turned down so it couldn't be seen. The fork hole had tape over it. I called Lowes before opening the box. They said I had to bring it back and wait for another compressor to come in on back order. I was not really in the mood to go 3 more months without a large, stationary compressor. I open the box and found the damage was mostly superficial. The fork went through busting some plastic covers and hitting nothing to prevent the compressor from operating properly.

Called Lowes back and told them I was keeping the damaged compressor. I needed it bad and would repair it myself. They said I could not do that, I had to bring it back for a refund. Told them it wasn't coming back, I was going use it and would repair the damage when I had time. The service department on the phone said they was going to send a truck out to get the compressor and the truck would deliver a check to me for the almost $500 I paid for it. I told the service department the compressor was mine. I bought it. I had a receipt for it. The truck better have a check for $1,000 or they would not get it back. The value of it had increased due to everything being on back order and in short supply. This was during the covid shipping shortages. The service dept said I only paid $500 so that was all I could get back. Told them if they send the truck to steal my air compressor then they better send a deputy to help them steal it. It was only worth $500 when they sold it to me, but due to it being the only one there was in the store or the supply chain, it was now worth $1,000. I hung up on them. Never heard any more from them. I think they wanted it back because they knew they sold me a damaged compressor with tape covering the fork hole. They did not get it back. I fabricated some metal covers to replace the busted plastic belt guard panels and 4 or 5 years later, I'm still using the same compressor.
They wanted it back to they could patch it up and offer it for $1000, seeing as there was a shortage.

Here in Oz, doing that would be likely to earn the guy keeping it a fully funded enforced holiday of something up to 5 years in one of His Majesty's Federal Institutions, I believe possibly a somewhat longer stay if he tried to hide the fact that he received it &/or if he sold it on...

It'd be different if he'd notified the supplier & deliverer that it wasn't his and they should come and get it to take to the intended recipient, and then they never bothered; but if it's not addressed to him, then he shouldn't accept it, or even open it, cos that'd another offence - tampering with someone else's mail/property... 😖

A while back I had someone deliver a box from Chewy.com to front porch. I don't remember if it was UPS or FedEx.
It was the right street name but not the right house number.

I contacted Chewy about it, and they said I could keep it and they'd ship a replacement to the person who'd ordered it.
It was some dry pet food.
When I told them I didn't have any pets, they told me I could donate it to the local animal shelter, which is what I did.

It don't work like that here, even with the U.S. Postal Service. You must take into account that you are dealing with people who don't do anything they don't absolutely have to do, and they were not the sharpest knife in the drawer when they were hired.

Somehow some person I did not know started getting mail with his name on it, but my mailing address. It was not anyone who ever lived here before, because I bought this place and built the house on it myself. No one else has ever recieved mail here. I started putting the letters to him back in the mailbox and putting the flag up. The did not pick them up. I took a magic marker and wrote in large black letters, "not my name, this person does not live here", on the front of the envelopes. They picked them up, and about a week later the same envelope with the writing on the front came right back. I called the postmaster in the town my rural route deliveries come from. They would not let me talk to him. I wrote them letters, wrote letters to the mail carrier, asking her not to put mail in my box that did not have my name on it. I made a large sign and hung it on my mailbox, telling the carriers that nobody reecieved mail in my box unless they had the same sur-name as me. They took the signs off and left them on the dirt by the box. After about a year of attempting to return to sender, reason with the postal service, and returning the mail by dropping it into a drop box in some other town, I gave up. You can't return something they won't take back. I will not say where the mail to the person that doesn't live here goes now, but it ends up some place with a lot of lost luggage and single socks......... some alternate universe.

I don't want it. I don't have any of it, and if the aliens are stealing it out of my box it is not my fault. It must be sort of like filing a complaint about the service in a mental institution. That is where you would end up if you continued to attempt to follow the letter of the law, while dealing with people who don't know or don't care.

It don't do much good to get your money back from the shipper when you just lost the only one of a thing known to exist.
