• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Applies

Those articles are from 1996, I wonder how much still applies?

Much of the data still applies, although the "tipping point" (where we are producing at a rate that will deplete supplies) has now moved out about 60 years from now. Also, the fact that the US is now the world's leader in natural gas production is not included in the older figures. This is in large part due to the discovery, and enhanced technology, that has allowed the recovery of hydrocarbons from shale formations.

Since I was laid off last year, I have undertaken a possible career change and am pursuing a degree in Petroleum Technology ... so, my information is recent. For more up to date information, see if you can find the movie "spOILed" -- and even it is out of date as was produced in 2010 before the Barnett and Eagleford shale formations were tapped extensively in Texas.

Best Regards .... Ann
