With my BMW, I had one of those helmet locks that straddled the license plate - the helmet just hung from the lock. What are folks doing about securing their helmets to the Spyder. I pick up mine later this week....:2thumbs:
Check out Kewlmetal.com a vendor listed on this forum. They have end caps for handlebars that are helmet locks. When we get our bike tomorrow, we'll know if we like them (we asked our dealer to put them on while doing 600 mi service).

When we are unable to use the trunk or saddlebags, we use a RetracaSafe retractable cable lock by Pacsafe to lock to the grab bars or saddlebag mounts on the RS. The RT has helmet hooks under the seat.
My 2010 worked, too. They are the same for both years. Easiest way is to fasten the helmet strap and use that...provided it is long enough to allow the seat to clear. That works for both my Scorpion and our Arai helmets. As an alternative, a loop of aircraft cable, heavy zip-tie, or a retractible cable lock can be used to make an extender loop. Slip the loop through the d-rings, then loop both ends over the seat hook.Yep there is a helmet hook under the seat....but I have yet to find anyone who can hook there helmet there. Obviously you got yours to work Scotty...must be the 2011 model that works...have never seen a 2010 RT hook work...that is why I went with the KewlMetal end caps....
Yes, you need just the right amount of cable. Too much and it is easily defeated. That's why I like zip-ties. they are adustable, and once you find the right length, they are easy to set the same...or just toss into your trunk for the next time.I tried that with a trigger lock... the problem was that you could push the cabling forward and disengage it from the hook and then work the helmet off the bike... :dontknow:
Hey... What a great idea! :2thumbs::clap:I use a pair of S&W Model 100 handcuffs. One end through the D Ring and the other around the handlebar. Works great and has a good intimidating factor. Can get online for around $25.00.
