• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help me out here

I'm very new to this site and cant seem to get the answer by just searching to please forgive me for posting something I'm sure has been asked and answered, but I'm so confused. I just purchased a 2011 RS(the one with the trunk and side compartments) without any radio, so it's not the Audio convenience. The dealer threw in adding the factory radio to make the sale and it will be installed next week. I sold my Harley Ultra Classic that had intercom and all the bells and whistles. I thought I would be able to get there by adding a radio and a blue tooth headset like the Scala head sets. I’m being told I have to spend about 1200 dollars to get there is this true? All we care about is that we can listen to our satellite radio and talk while we ride. So once this radio gets installed what else do I have to purchase? I don't care about radar dectors or CB's just listening to music and talking with my wife while we drive. Thanks for any help. Oh, if there are any Spyder riders in Southern New Mexico please get in touch.

I hope you meant RT instead of RS. :) If you want an intercom, you have three basic choices...either the factory CB/Comm System, and aftermarket wired system, or an aftermarket wireless system. All can be integrated to a satellite receiver or an MP3 player, although some do so with difficulty, or need additional componenets like a GPS or Hi-Lo converter to do the job. There are a variety of reviews and how-tos on this site...although searching for them can be difficult.

My hope was to go with a blue tooth headset for me and my wife. I wanted to mount my Sirrus radio on the handle bars and some how plug it into the Aux imput than get it to converted to blue tooth. And yes searching here is a bit confusing and harder if you are not use to user groups on the web.

Audio in headsets and intercom

:yes:You can get several different intercom systems. I have a bluetooth wireless system that is rechargable. It lasts about a day. As a backup, I have a wired set that works for a few hours on AAA batteries.

I looked into the radio and iphone in our headsets and it appeared that the only way to do that was to buy the CB and enterainment harness, about $1000.

After exploying a little more, I decided to attach a hi/low converter to the speaker wires and then to my headsets thru an amp. It works great. I have also added a spliter so that I have intercom and radio (or Iphone) as I go down the road. The cost was under $100. Since I have added a CB that also works with the headsets. That addition was just over $130. The CB is a portable Midland at $88. Dont know how good the reception is so far.

:welcome: I have the 2010 RTS with just the AM FM radio. I did not opt for the cb, a gps or any of that stuff. For communicators, I use the Scala helmet to helmet. The radio works allright except for at highway speeds--I then find it pretty much useless.

You can search threads for your answers. The search engine on this site is very good.
