• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Let's talk about feline prevention!

We have cat trouble and have reached the end of our rope.

There is a cat crawling up underneath the cover on our RT and sleeps on the seat. This actually didn't get me too irritated. Just clean the seat off and go.

Yesterday morning we took the cover off and discovered the vagrant had pissed on the passenger seat and backrest. My wife was extremely irritated..cleaned it up and we took measures which consisted of putting clear tape sticky side up all over the seat.

This morning, MORE URINE!:gaah: So, after considering duct tape, mouse traps, etc, I came up with a "plan":

I cut two hunks of cardboard to fit the front and rear seats. Then I took pushpin/thumbtacks and jabbed em thru and then taped the cardboard to the seat. Also hung a few long lengths of duct tape sticky side out down on each side of the Spyder. Also bought a can of cat repellent and sprayed that on the cardboard on the seats, the footpegs and all around the Spyder. Then, I had two scrap pieces left over, so I poked 6 tacks thru each and put em underneath where the cat would jump up, by the front footpegs.

Our apt manager just blew us off about the stray cats. I am an animal advocate, but I believe this is a humane way to repel the critter without doing any major harm.

If worse comes to worse, I m thinking of live trapping, if I can beg, borrow, rent a trap without having to purchase one.

Anyone else have any tried and true solutions?

I had a tom that would sleep on my RT seat and I just put my helmets on the seat. My guess is you can't do that but a box or anything like that should work.

Try some mothballs around the spyder. That supposedly works to keep rodents away; maybe it will work here.

I had the same trouble with my bass boat. Didn`t mind so much till the cat marked my carpet as you mentioned. It was my neighbors cat so I needed to be considerate. I could tell where the cat always jumped on the nose then walked down the gunnel rail because of the dirty foot prints. I put a sticky trap for mice on the nose where he junped on. The next day after work I checked and the trap was gone so I looked for it. It was chewed in a million pieces with about what looked like a pound of cat hair on it. I was worried and started looking for the cat. It was on their back steps and had about a 6" circle with no hair. I went and got my wife to show her because she knew what I had tried. OK here is the bad part, as bad as we felt we both laughed uncontrolably till we were crying. The cat was OK and grew its hair back but never got in my boat or garage again.

I'm turning this over to an animal right's group...just kiddin'...funny...sometimes you have to do what you have to do...

Lay some Aluminum foil across the seat, that should stop the cat from jumping on the seat.
If you use a live trap[havahart] You should check it every day don't forget it for a week or more,
Or you might find a skeleton. You don't want to know how i know!!

I had the same problem with a neighbor's cat getting up under my boats cover and marking his territory on the carpet. I set 6 mouse traps under the cover. Two where he jumped up to get into the boat and rest around the interior of the boat. The next day one of the traps where he jumped up was sprung and the second was missing and I never found it. The cat never came back.:ohyea:

I have to say, and this is not a joke, that this is pretty poor behavior. I have a little sympathy for your precious bike but if you are really concerned garage it or park it somewhere else.

I don't consider the harming of animals the least bit funny for any reason.

Frankly the tone of this entire post is very disappointing to me.

You could try a portable radio and put the station a talk show as the voices should discourage the cat. We tried this for our racoon/skunk problem and it worked and a lot less work than removing the cardboard etc on the seat

I've had the same problem, as well. I've found that mouse traps and a product called SHAKE-AWAY works wonders. SHAKE-AWAY can be found in any garden center....it's made of dehydrated coyote/fox urine...put some in a small plate or shallow bowl. It doesn't smell, but the cats will instinctively think "Predator!" and not camp out. Regarding kindness to our little four legged friends, just let me say that I'm an animal lover and have been for years having had dogs, cats and now exotic birds as pets. But I REFUSE to let other people's uncontrolled pets run or ruin my life. I should park somewhere other than in my own driveway (I have a car-port, not a garage)? :hun: I think not! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: .....and all this is said with the utmost of respect to fellow Spyder ryders.

Indoor/Outdoor cover

I had the same problem, but with people instead. What I did was use an Indoor/Outdoor cover and placed a chain coated with plastic to protect the paint (yellow so it could be seen) around the seat and body. This keeps the people off, I don't have to worry about the wind blowing it off, and the cover is held on tight. This might work for you as the cat won't be able to climb under it. I too live in an apartment, so a garage or relocating is out of the question.

You could buy an animal friendly trap. You bait it and once the pest trips the trap, the door closes on the cage and you got em. Then take it to the local animal shelter. That way the owner gets the bill and the message without loosing family member.

Contact your local animal shelter. They will usually rent you live capture traps and shouldn't charge you for surrendering strays. Your apartment manager should have a boss also and a phone call to him/her may get the fire lit under your managers booty. It really isn't your responsability, but if your willing to do it, check with your local shelter and let em know there are ferrel cats that you wanna trap and bring in. They are usually very helpful. Good luck!

If you keep it parked outside you may want to consider an alarm system with a perimeter sensor. I read a post earlier that had a problem with a local cat and would find paw prints on his Spyder every morning. Once he installed the alarm with the perimeter sensor the problem went away. However, this wouldn't be the least expensive solution but it would be humane. Plus it would keep the two legged animals off of it too.

Thanks for your suggestions,but..
