Multiple helmets and Sena

I just purchased a second helmet for cold and rain conditions and it got me wondering what do others do with there communication units? Do you move the entire unit between helmets or did you buy an extra mounting kit and put it on the second helmet. I think a second mounting unit would be best and I f anyone had a spare for a Sena 20 s that they wanted to sell please let me know.

You can purchase what is called a SENA helmet clamp kit, part number SMH A 320, which is a pair of speakers, the mike, and the mounting bracket for each helmet. The cost is around $35.00 and allows you to just swap the blue tooth unit between helmets. Easier than swapping out the whole thing between helmets and removes the possibility of breaking a wire. Motorcycle Dave ( a forum sponsor ) or Amazon carries these.

What helmets do you have? I'm going to buy a new one prior to Spyderfest. I have my open face helmet from my Harley, but I want to get something with more protection for our trip to Missouri. I was thinking of the Shoei J-Cruise or a modular helmet. Sena now makes a 10U series that fits directly in a few select helmets so there is no mounting outside. Only downside is it stays in the helmet.

No intent to hijack thread but IMO you first issue is finding the helmet that's most comfortable for long days in the saddle, then narrow the field to ones that will accept your bluetooth mount.

Picked up a new Schuberth

I just snagged a new Schuberth C3 modular with built in sun shield from revzilla on close out. It was almost half off the regular price. That paired with the Can Am 3/4 face with the built in sun shield I think I'm set now.

All i I have left to add to my gear Arsenal would be gloves. Bob D was it you that recommended the Aerostitch glove covers here?

I was wondering if they add any warmth at all? If so I am planning to just use the over my existing gloves and then I should be good. Thoughts from anyone that has these would be appreciated.

These are strickly waterproof covers that keep your gloves dry in the rain. I've had a pair for years, and they hold up very well. The only additional warmth would be similar to wear two pair of socks to keep your feet warm, but they do keep the wind off your hands so that should count for something. What do you ride? My RT has heated hand grips which function well enough that down here in Florida it very seldom gets cold enough to use the high setting. Also, there are some good battery powered heated gloves that should help.

Was is the last Matte Black large they had yesterday? If so, I was going back and forth on buying it and when I went to go do it, it was gone. ;)

wasn't Bob it were me!! The aerostich 3 finger covers are completely waterproof. They will add considerable warmth when worn over any gloves as the wind can no longer get trough to cool off your digits!! Not as effective as heated gloves but do add considerably to overall hand comfort.:ohyea::yes::clap:

Thank you!!

Great info, thank you for the update. I've ridden in 30 degree wether and the only issue I have had is with the wind on the back of my hands. I think these will do the trick! I really like the current glove selection I have so not having to add more will be a bonus.

Tourmaster Winter Elite II gloves

Over the years, I've found Tourmaster products a very big bang for the buck...that said, check out the Tourmaster Winter Elite II gloves

They are warm but still allow good control while riding without being too thick or bulky...a bonus is a waterproof outside cover built in to use when needed. $140

"The Winter Elite II, the ultimate winter touring glove, features Grade A water-resistant goatskin and sheepskin leather and a waterproof ad breathable barrier by HiPora® for 100% waterproof performance. Inside the glove, a mcFit liner offers maximum comfort and fit in addition to the pre-curved palm and fingers. A built-in nylon polar cover for extreme conditions stows away discreetly when not in use."

Brent,

The clamp kit does not work on the Schuberth C3 helmets. You will have to get the stick on holder. We just went through this with my wife's C3 Womens helmet. The clamp gets in the way of the slider for the internal visor. Just make sure that you clean the area with alcohol before you stick on the holder.

I was wondering about that

I said to my wife that we may have to move the clamp to the right side of helmet. I would just need to get used to reaching over with my left hand to hit the center button to talk. As my wife is a passenger it wouldn't be a big deal for her?

The missus and I have multiple helmets, and we simply use the same Sena and have bought extra mounting kits for under $40 each. Our latest acquisition is a pair of Bell Qualifier Clutch DLX helmets, with a built-in "hatch" ready for Sena integration.

You won't be able to do that because the boom will be pointing backwards. :D

I put the stick-on model on my wife's helmet, and she did not have any problems with it. It sticks on there really good. So much so that I didn't even try to remove the old one from her BMW System 6 helmet. I was afraid that it would pull the paint off. Just clean the area first.

If your wife doesn't switch helmets, you can buy the Sena 10U that integrates directly into the C3 helmet. It also comes with the handle bar controls.
