• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have this problem with my 2011 RTS SE5 Spyder. In the past three weeks while ryding I get the following on my screen. First I get VSS and then DPS and finally Limp Mode. Had the Spyder in for first service and they found a loose wire on my HMBL. Fixed that and I thought all was well and good. Was going to take a nice ryde Saturday and while OUT in the middle nowhare the darn thing did the same thing, VSS, DPS and limp mode. Waited 1 1/2hours for service thought might as well try to go as far as possible. Well we made it all the way home, 29.2 miles no problem. Wrote email to seller of LED's and he suggested there maybe a loose wire or disconnect power to LED's. Did that and then went for a short ryde and no problems. Wednesday was taking the Spyder in for service and same thing happened again/ Took key out and waited for about ten minutes and started and made trip home again, about 24.6 miles. Called service people and they stated maybe a loose wire.

My question is why does this happen only in the twenty mile range? Why would a loose wire not cause problems all the time? Plus both times after waiting for a period of time was able to make trip home? Please anybody with suggestions, I am open to any and all help!!!!:banghead::banghead:

Possible heat induced short. Check wires going to the magneto, battery. Also check battery and magneto output. Double check ignition switch....maybe Snoopy or some of the really smart mechanics can come up with ideas, or can ask the right questions.

Elecrical..!!

for sure. Checking connections and reseating fuses and relays is a good start. Battery condition would be next...

I think it might be time to replace your battery.

Mosta rikery the battery. Here in Arizona two years is about max for a battery. Yea Yea I know yours is still good longer than that. Get it bench checked and you will find out differently. It needs to be able to hold a charge with a load on it. If not all kinds of spurious electrons will be playing tricks on you.

Follow Rattigan Rogers advice. (90% of the time a new battery will cure all ills). Start with a new battery, you are way overdue. The 998 has a small rotar IMHO and your spider has a lot of electronics leaving an older battery not fully charged which is the beginning of battery death.

Battery test

Thanks guys. Tested the battery Saturday and here are the voltages I found: 12.99 just sitting in Spyder, 14.20-14.25 volts while running. Will take your advice and get a new battery. Once again Spyderlovers comes through.:yes:
