• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BUYING A SPYDER

IMHO , if you haven't driven either the F-3 or RT especially with the 1330 Ace engine you may find out you have made a mis-take in your choice ...... I would test drive these before making a decision ......... good luck ...... Mike

:welcome:
As with all used vehicles: tracking down the service history of the bike would be a huge benefit.
How many miles are on it?
Is it an SE-5, or SM-5 equipped bike?
(With the "ESSIE"; it wouldn't hurt to hook it up to a BUDS unit at a local dealer, and see what kind of rpm levels, the bike has been enjoying***)
The rear brake pads will usually wear out earlier than the fronts...
What kind of rear tire does it have, and how is it looking?

*** The SE-5 transmissions like to be kept above 3500 rpm in order to assure full clutch engagement

I disagree, an RS is a great is a blast to drive. Much more nimble and quick then the RT or F3

:D They're ALL pretty darn good!
I've ridden all four platforms, and only wish that my bank account and garage, were bigger!

Welcome welcome....

To both the spyder world and this awesome site...:2thumbs: just have them run the vin# at a dealer so you know that all updates are done and enjoy the ryde. I have an RS basically the same as the RSS and would not change...

:welcome: I would recommend looking around before making a decision on the RSS.

Here is some good information for anyone interested in :ani29:

The RSS has a twin cylinder engine and is now discontinued. Most are going with 2014 and up 1330 3/cylinder engine. The F3 and RT platforms are available models. If you are looking for a deal, there are a lot of RS for sale these days. $6,500 will buy a nice one.

Love my RS:yes:

I am not trying to diss the RS. I had two of them in my journey with BRP. I had the first one sold in Alaska and the following year, I got one of the first SE5's for the spouse. Both versions gave me many miles of pleasure. Time has moved on, and the market is now a buyers market. A look at the for sale thread sadly tells the story.

Thanks ...

Thanks for all the info ...
It is a dollars and cents thing ..that's why I'm going with a 2013 , it has 3300 miles on it .

I'm up here in Ontario Canada and this one is listed at $12888.00 Canadian ( about 9600 US )

I used to snowmobile but the way our winters are going .....I would get a hell of a lot more use from a Spyder ...plus I have always loved them ..

good luck with the rs, if you are looking to save a few $$$$ on your first bike i have my 09 for sale in the for sale section for $7000 us

Good choice

its easy for some to say go for the new 1330 engine ... But who's paying for it ? That's a good deal on that RS for up here if it is in good shape . I've been pricing RT,s and F3's and $20,000 is minimum for a well used one with the 1330 right now . I will upgrade to the triple some day but I'm quite happy with my GS for another year or so . A good dealership for service is important ... Good luck and enjoy
