• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Change Video ???

I'm about to do my oil change for the first time myself instead of taking it to the dealer. I can't believe I have put 3,000 miles on her already this year in a little over 2 months. I used to be able to go the whole summer without changing the oil on my two wheeler. This should tell you how much more I ride the Spyder than I ever did my two wheeler. WOW !!! So much for keeping the miles down for resale value.

Anyway, this is not a question about what kind of oil you use. I'm going to use Amzoil full SYN. I know someone made a video on changing the oil and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I remember seeing that one bolt is a torx and the other is a allen and many have made the boo boo with the wrong socket. I got the filter and crush washer already at my dealer ($18.00 with tax) but they did not have the rubber o-ring. I'm going to hopefully reuse the one I have. I'm not going to get into why my dealer did not have one in stock because you all know how I feel about Spyder service and parts depts. FYI... my dealer said they never change the washer or oring with oil changes.

I looked in the video section and typed in oil change but there was no matches found. :hun: Can anyone find this link or know where I can look for it ??? I think Lamont was the one who made the video but I'm not sure. Thanks for your help

Hey, I tried ... :opps:

I'm sorry, I should have worded that differently. Let me try that again.

Thank you for the info provided to me. Although that was a video on a oil change, the video was edited in such a way that it did not show any steps on how to do the oil change. Thanks for trying.

No worries, brother!
I did not take offense at all!
Peace!

Both are ALLEN, The boo boo is getting anywhere near the TWO oil drain plugs with a :yikes: torx.

Yep +1 on the booboo ... whats with the ALEN bolts anyway when everything else is TORX!

best to replace the first time you do your oil change. you can do it cheap at pepboys or advanced auto parts stores ... the mag engine drain bolt is hard to find at either location. only found nonmag in that size bolt.

but nice to get rid of those bolts and go to standard socket head bolts easy to use torque wrench on when tightening now...

I just did my 1st oil change EVER! On anything. :ohyea: I'm so proud.
Anyway, I used the post from Lamont and it was perfect. If I can do it anyone can. Only problem was my Kewlmetal highway brackets got in the way of removing the plastic piece so I was only able to slide it over. It was enough to get at the crank case bolt and it was just enough not to drip oil everywhere when I removed the filter. ( if I didn't bump it over while removing the filter):gaah:

Link to Lamont's post.
