• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Opening the frunk...Options??

Here's one that I haven't seen yet...
Has anybody figured out what you need to do in order to open the frunk by just turning the ignition key and hitting the button? NOT starting the engine would make it quick and easy for the folks who don't like twisting the key until you think it's gonna break off in the switch...
Thanks! :2thumbs:

Depress key, turn counter clockwise and poof, it opens. No rocket science there. Button, button, who's got a button?

Mine has given me problems since day one. It's been more annoying than crucial. I've always managed to get it open. About a week ago when I brought my spyder in for an adjustment to the trunk, my dealer agreed to get a new assembly for it. Should be in sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Roger & Scotty... :2thumbs:
I had already put a dollar in my pocket to bet anybody in the World that you two would be right on this one! THANX! :D

It ain't for me; but there's a ryder on another site who is afraid of twisting the key off in the switch so he is looking for options...
Now I can tell him that Spyderlovers transcends all boundaries in their quest to spread knowledge!

If a person is having excessive trouble unlatching (turning) either the trunk or seat releases, the latches and cables probably need lubrication, and the latches might need adjustment.

I also changed it last year on my RT .. just one "bridge" on the front - but I think nobody should work around on the cables of a spy - speak with your dealer .. they changed it also for the 2011 modells - now it works how it should ..!!!

Frunk

I had initially experienced difficulty opening the frunk manually. Electrically, it didn't exactly leap open either. I believe my dealer either replaced or adjusted the opening mechanism at the 600mi check. No issues since.

FOLLOW UP ON MY "FRUNK" ISSUE

As I had noted earlier in this thread I had minor problems opening my "frunk" from day one. From time to time my tech would apply a bar and all was fixed. A short time ago, my frunk wouldn't open so I took it to the dealer. They ordered new assembly parts and whatever goes with the working operations of opening the frunk.

I got a call today from my dealer stating that all the parts were in and that I would need to get with them to discuss the installation along with "painting issues" that would be necessary. I was advised that this might take about a week to complete.

Bottom line is that my dealer, Seminole Power Sports, in Sanford, Florida, has again demonstrated why they are labeled a "PLATINUM" dealer with BRP. Their work and the way they have treated me has been absolutely superb.

It sounds as ifyou've got a "keeper" there! :2thumbs: It's too bad that it'll take a week, but it's sure to be done right.
Your tech would apply a bar???? :yikes: That sounds, uh... rough!

I forgot to ask this in my previous update. I would assume that they will have to take off the entire frunk area. Is there anything I need them to look at, adjust, add, subtract or anything while they have that off? I have 19,000 miles on my RT-S so I just had my 18,000 service. Lights, etc are working great. I just thought that while they were doing this, there might be something that needed to be replaced.
