• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Paddle Shifter

I posted on the other GS/RS thread before, but now we're getting to technical stuff, so I moved here... :)

2011 RS SE5. Check transmission message still comes on with check engine light. I tried several times to get a code out of it. Nothing!!! Nada!!! Took it for a short spin (maybe half a mile) and couldn't get it to shift into 3rd. Then the message/light came on. I also had to hold the shifter a tad longer to get it to go into 2nd on the way home. This sounds like the paddle shifter sensor is the culprit!!!

Mind you, I'm fairly mechanical, so my question is how hard is it to replace the dang thing??

Replacing the paddle shifter is not DIFFICULT. Just acouple of screws and plug-in connectors. It IS time-consuming. the wiring harness has to go back the same place it came out of. Not much fun. The space for the harness and the surrounding space for working is very limited. Remember to connect a fish wire to the old harness before you r remove it. If you forget? Well, I don't want to know about it.

good luck.......

I did see the other thread, actually. No one ever said how difficult (or not) it was. Thanks for the heads up on the fish wire! Little things like that are good to know!! I did order the part earlier, so I'll be looking at the green manual and at least get some (if not all) of the pieces of tupperware off before the part gets here. We all know that's a good chunk of time out of your day!!!

Update:

It took over a week to get the part. Finally replaced it today!!! Took about 1 hour and 45 minutes total. Took it out for a spin with a couple of stops. NO MORE SCROLLING MESSAGE!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!! Seems to be shifting a bit smoother as well.:bowdown: I didn't even realize there was a problem, but apparently there was.......

Glad to hear the problem is solved.
