Pitbull Lift for Spyder

While at Americade this year I went by Pitbull Motorcycle Lifts, and asked why they didn’t have a Spyder on display? They said that they had never had the opportunity to lift one. I told them that it would not be a problem to lift a Spyder and asked if they would like me to bring my wife’s Spyder RT over to try. As you can see by the picture it was not a problem. What I noticed right off the bat is the Spyder was extremely stable on the lift compared to other motorcycle lifts I have used. In fact other than a motorcycle lift table you would be hard pressed to find a better lift. Improved stability is due to the wider support that comes in contact with the frame along with the overall wheel base of the unit itself. Clearance was not a problem, minimum height is 4 ½” and maximum height is 25”. We did bring the lift in under the left side because Barbwire’s Spyder has SPYDERPOP’S Catalytic Converter Shield Set; if you don’t have this on your RT it is a must to manage the heat coming from the Catalytic Converter. are there any landmarks for placing the pitbull under the Spyder.

Have you owned other than Pitbull?? Their price is rather; pricey, but in looking over their literature they are very well constructed an thought out.:bowdown:

I do have an RT with SpyderPops cat converter heat shields and also a Pitbull lift. I'm uncertain about approaching the RT from the left, as there are heat shields on both sides. Can you explain in better detail?

They are pricey, built very well and the platform is rock solid as advertised. Mine is foot powered. Slightly less expensive. I would do it again.

I agree. I love mine. I used it on my GW and now my Spyder.

It seems that my wife lost the left side heat shield or it wasn't put back on when the Spyder was serviced. Called Harvey at Spyderpops and he is sending one out. My wife, Barbwire, has Elka shocks on her RT so the bike sits up higher than stock and clearance is not a problem on either side as the lift support is placed forward of the heat shields. You may need to drive up on a 2 x 4 to get additional clearance to slip the lift under the Spyder if you have Spyderpops heat shields?.

I have the Elka's too. Haven't tried putting the lift forward of the heat shield, it suspect that will have the Spyder too heavy at the rear. I'll take a look sometime.

I knew if I were patient enough I'd hear the answer to my Q I just asked today. I've got a set of 2X12's parked under my Toyota since I sold my5x10 and got a 6X10 foot trailer that takes the Spyder into the trailer with just the ramp.

I don't like the car ramp idea for under bike clearance, but I suppose it'd work. Harvey said to go at the Spyder from the front and I asked him in the next e-mail if their BS is ok to jack it up - that's kinda what I think he was saying. No answer, maybe his Spyder is sitting on a bike jack hoisting that bike up by the BS thingy as we speak. More news at 11 or when ever I get it. There is room under the BS for my yellow H. Freight bike jack and it goes a couple inches to the rear of the BS. I do have the ELKAS also.

I've seen this type of lift sold under many different brands. They are almost all with the same dimensions. ... I have one from Sears width of support arms is 14 inches outside edge to outside edge. ... works very well, But I suggest you use the " hold down " straps they provide ..... Mike :thumbup:PS .... I've seen these selling for a lot less than the one pictured .....try Harbor Freight .....
