• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Random thought for the day

I'm old and have way too much time to reflect and think about stuff. Today, my random thought is about life. Thinking about my life being saved by someone and me saving the life of others. I had my life saved by a friend who prevented me from drownings when I was 14 years old. In my mid 20s I saved a friend from drowning. Later in life, I performed CPR on a customer who collapsed in the lobby of my office. So, the person who saved my life when I was 14 is responsible for saving the life of 2 others. And life goes on.....

I prefer not to even consider anything like that, or wonder about it. I think of the time I spent in Vietnam, and other South-East Asian countries, as something that happened in a previous life. It is the things you can never forget and the only thing you can do about it, is learn how to live with it.

I understand. I really do. Since I graduated from boot camp in 1966, I have been a United States Marine. I will never not be a Marine. Until my active-duty discharge in 1969 there were countless lives affected by me and my actions, most of which I'll never know about. I accept that. My focus on the random thought was on friends and people who had life changing events that were known to, and close to me. Now that I'm in the last stages of my life, I can only hope that I've had more positive influences than negative. And that's my random thought for today.....

I did not want to get into all the people I med-evaced from forward positions to one of the big field hospitals. Also did not want to get into the fire bases we evacuated those we could from while they were being over-run. No way of even knowing the refugees we moved out of the way of bombings or major operations. For the most part, I did not know the people we picked up. Some were Americans, some civilians, some allied forces. Did not even want to speculate on the people I helped kill by bringing food, water, and ammo to where it was needed. You can't get into that kind of stuff after a war. It would drive you out of your mind. It was what it was and I did not start the wars or conflicts. I was aircrew on C-130-E.

The Change by George Rostevor

All the daytime I belong
To the solemn-coated throng
Who with grave, stupendous looks
Study cash and ledger books,
Or who go,
Staid and slow,
On sad business to and fro.
But when twilight comes, I range
Over topics new and strange,
Wasting all my leisure hours
On fay birds and phantom flowers,
Or I sing
Some mad fling
Through the impish evening.
Yes, and when the moon goes by
Rocking in a foamy sky,
Then I swear I’m more akin
To the laughing Cherubin
Than to those grave men who go,
To and fro, to and fro,
On sad business to and fro.
